Sundays with Sam - The Sunday Post

Sundays with Sam is a combination of Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

My Week in Review

Holy moly! August is flying by, and I'm ok with it. I have been enjoying the cooler mornings so much and am looking forward to more and more days like that.

I have to say, it was quite nice to attend a gathering. The food was good, there was cake, and I saw some people I have not seen in quite a while. Good times. My sister liked her gift too. I had originally wanted to get her tickets to a show, but, you know, 2020. She is a big lover of decorating her home for any and all holidays, and she loves Disney. I found this at The Bradford Exchange, and I know she wouldn't buy it for herself.

Now that I have more time, I feel less productive. This has always been an issue with me. I  have been skipping discussion posts even though I have topics. I think I am falling into the doldrums. I need to work on my motivation.

My daughter sent me this picture, and I thought it was very sweet.

STACKING THE SHELVES

I have so many books I want to buy, but I am holding out for some Amazon credits. I got this promo, that if I read 15 days during the month of August, I would get a $5 credit. According to my Kindle insights, I have read every day on my kindle for 753 days in a row. I think that $5 credit is mine.

What I Read Last Week

I had NO DNFs this week! This is the first time in quite a while that I finished everything I started. My favorite book this week was The Brave.  It was a very beautiful story about a preteen dealing with his OCD and bullying. I loved that the author included parts of his Ojibwe culture, and it was filled with wonderful characters. It's had a lot of really emotional bits, but the overall vibe is positive and uplifting.

Making Friends with Alice Dyson was also a hit. The beauty was in the sweet and tender moments she shared with me, as well as in all those times of reflection. I was touched and moved and you know I cried. I loved Nwosu's other book as well, Taking Down Evelyn Tait

The Roommate came in a close third. I am so impressed with where the author took that premise. It had all those rom-com feels, but also had quite a bit of depth. I was really excited to see that the author's follow up will be set in this world and cannot wait to return.

What I Am Currently Reading

I am excited to be back in Moose Springs and delighted that this adventure includes some quality moose time as well.

Sparrow is one of my overdue ARCs, so I thought, why not listen to the audio.
