My Week in Review
Happy Sunday! June is coming on strong with these 90+ days. Well, we all know it's El Niño's fault. I am counting down to fall already and summer didn't even start.
Last Sunday was the final show of the season at Paper Mill. It was West Side Story which always makes me cry. Paper Mill is a great regional theatre. They do wonderful shows with very talented casts, but the patrons are not the best. Their theatre etiquette leaves much to be desired. For example, Tony was dying on the stage and someone's cell phone starting playing a jaunty tune. They remind you at the beginning of the show to silence your phone. It's not that hard. Next season is getting a really late start because they are doing some renovations. Look, if they can solve the women's restroom problem, it will be worth it.
I finally went for my last laser treatment this week. It's hard to tell if it's working because the pollen has been out of control. I go for a follow up in August with the doctor. Maybe the results will be more definitive at that time.
I was pretty salty about having to go into to work on Friday to get my new laptop. They emphasized that it was important to be there because tech people would be available to help. I ran into issues and never found these tech people. I hope one will circle by my area on Monday because I am having Outlook issues and my inbox is important for my job function.
I am struggling to keep up. I am behind on reviews, and I didn't even realize until SATURDAY that my Friday post wasn't finished. I thought I finished it.
I got an email from my library the other day that the Hoopla borrows were being reduced from ten to five per month. Their reasoning was to cut down on the "over collective daily limit" message. The email said there are people doing their full number of borrows all at once. So, the solution is to give us less? I mostly use Hoopla for audiobooks, but I got a tablet just for the purpose of borrowing books, and now, I am not sure if that would be possible with the limited borrows. Oh, well!

I hope your computer problems will be solved soon Sam! And we had a heatwave here and then it was followed by a drop in temperature, thuderstorms and lots of rain! Sigh.. Also I don't know how you keep up with all the reviews as you read so many books!
ReplyDeleteWe are not getting much of a drop, but at least it is under 90 today. We had a fierce storm last night. Crazy wind!
DeleteOmg, I would feel so embarrassed if I were that person in a theatre that couldn't follow simple instructions to turn your phone off or at least just switch it on silent! 🤦🏻♀️ People! I hope you get your laptop issues sorted out soon and that you have a great and less frustrating week ahead, Sam.
ReplyDeleteIt was such an emotional moment too.
DeleteLooks like you have had a good week there darling. That theatre sounds amazing and a great experience. It can be so easy to get behind on reviews sometimes because they do pile up.
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy a good live show. We are lucky to have such a great regional theatre within a half hours drive.
DeleteI would be salty if I came to work on a Friday and then promised tech wasn't there to help, too! Hope it all gets sorted. We're supposed to have some 90+ days here next week, too. Not a fan. So happy to see your 5 stars for If Books Could Kill because I have it, too. Stay cool and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI always thought the northern part of your state had better weather, but it seems like you get the heat too. Stay cool. I cannot wait to see if you like If Books Could Kill. You are more of a mystery/thriller reader than I am, but I think the humor will grab you
DeleteI hate the tech stuff at work. There are only 2 tech guys for all of our employees and they want us to sit and wait while the do updates and such. 2 hours! Then, when I put in a help ticket because the iPads we use weren't working with the only program we use, I got "We will look at replacements next year". So irritating. And I always cry at West Side Story. It doesn't seem to matter how many times I've seen it!
ReplyDeleteWe have a tech cafe, and I should have gone there, but I thought those guys could help. I may hit up the tech guys next week. Your equipment not supporting the required software is nuts. I swear they are trying to set us up for failure.
DeleteUgh, enjoy the nice weather today because it is going to back to 90+ later this week! It's literally not even summer yet, I can't believe this heat - I agree, give me fall now.
ReplyDeleteIt's Wed and the beginning of the week was not bad. I know the really hot days are coming. BOO
DeleteHopefully the laser treatments will work. Hopefully the tech people will be available to help when you need it.
ReplyDeleteI will have to drag myself to the tech cafe at some point. They are very helpful there
DeleteIt's been in the 90s here too. I hate it. Good luck with your work computer!
ReplyDeleteYou get crazy weather. I would go batty there.
