Getting pregnant after a one-night stand with my brother’s best friend was never part of the plan.

We’re talking about Foster Davis here.

Chicago Colts closing pitcher.

The broody king of one-word answers.

And the man everyone knows keeps one foot out the door.

Surprisingly, when two pink lines turn my world upside down, Foster doesn’t run. He steps in, he shows up, and he insists we do this together.

Pretending we’re fine is easy. Pretending this is just about the baby? Not so much.

Because Foster is gentle when no one’s watching.

Because he looks at me like I’m something worth protecting.

Because the walls he’s built start to crack—and I’m the one he’s letting inside.

Our arrangement was supposed to be simple. Boundaries were set. Co-parents and no catching feelings.

Okay, maybe a few sex lessons were added in too. Bad idea, I know.

Because the more time I spend with Foster Davis, the harder it is to remember why I ever thought he was the risky choice.

After one night of misguided passion, Callie found herself expecting. The father was a bit problematic as he was her brother's best friend and NOT inclined to relationships. She knew she had to let him know and make his own decision about being part of the child's life. His reaction was NOT what she was expecting, and the more Callie got to know grown-up Foster, the more he made his way into her heart.

I am really enjoying this series!

Foster was such a complicated character, but he was a grump with a heart of gold. His past was not kind to him. I was happy to get to know him better and to finally find out what came between him and his brother. That's juicy and a good set up for the next book.

Foster and Callie made such a great pair. I adored watching their relationship take root and grow. You had Foster doting on Callie who was Ms. Independent, and you had Callie breaking down Foster's defensive walls. They were perfect for each other. Foster was such a big, lovable, papa bear. Loved it!

I am looking forward to returning to The Dugout soon.

It was a fun Vegas getaway—until I woke up married to my ex-fiancĂ©’s brother.

After Watson brother #1 ditched me at the altar, I stopped believing in happily-ever-afters. So I have no clue how I ended up saying “I do” to Brooks—Watson brother #2—somewhere between tequila shots and bad decisions.

Okay, that may not be true.

Sheriff Watson has been a charming thorn in my side ever since his brother left our small ranch town in his rearview mirror. He’s a little too steady, a little too sweet, and way too intuitive because he sees through my facade. But no matter how tempting he is, he’s still a Watson.

I demand an annulment. He refuses, bargaining four real dates before he signs.

Fine. I’ll sabotage each one and keep my heart safely locked away. It’s easier this way because he has no idea the secret I’m keeping.

Of course, Brooks doesn’t go down easy—he has enough faith for both of us. He tackles my fears at every turn, making me wonder what would happen if I went all in.

But trusting the wrong man once nearly ruined me—doing it again might finish the job.

After a wild night in Vegas, Lottie found herself married to Brooks, her ex-fiance's brother. Of course she demanded an annulment, but Brooks would only cooperate if Callie agreed to four dates that he hopes will win Callie's heart as she has owned his for years.

I love a man who holds a torch for a woman, and nobody did it better than Brooks. He was willing to fight tooth and nail for Lottie, and I LOVED his plan to try and win her over. I still am always a bit weirded out when there is dating incest (she was his brother's ex), but she was definitely with the right brother now.

Brooks' family were awful! He really needed to become an official member of Lottie's clan. It was a warm and welcoming family who accepted him for who he was. It was very satisfying going on those dates with them and watching Lottie fall for Brooks.

Overall: Another great Plain Daisy Ranch book!
