My Week in Review
Happy Sunday! Can you believe it's almost July??? I feel like June sped. I didn't really do anything...at all, but it was over in a blink. I am hoping the weather forecast changes, but right now, it's showing three over 100°F days. I am worried about getting stranded at work. The trains always have issues when it's too hot or too cold.
What did I do last week? Sunday, I took my parents out for dinner. The rest of the week was work and more work. Yesterday, we tried a new restaurant. It's had a lot of Polish and eastern European food. I was very happy. My heart still yearns for a good German restaurant. I was reading an article about NYC and the world cup, and it had Germans listed as the second highest diaspora in the city. Why didn't any of them open a restaurant? I need to get the kid on that for her next visit.
I didn't expect it, but my daughter surprised me when she planned a trip here in July. I always love to see her, and we have plans to see a show in the city. Something to look forward to. We are nailing down plans for my September visit too. Have to get reservations for tea at the Hello Kitty Cafe and purchase our tickets for the Pokemon exhibit. We are going to see a show too. It should be a wonderful weekend.

So, I saw Polo Fever on Netgalley, and while I was gathering information about it, I found out that Katherine Reilly is one of four pen names used by Katy Birchall! I had to request and was very happy to be granted access to the ARC. Though, after I requested, I realized my library had this book, AND I already had a hold in. Oh, well.

Read Last Week
This was a pretty great week. I read FOUR books that rated 4.5 stars. Not too shabby.
Rosie Walsh continues to keep me guessing. I love her blend of romance and mystery. Her books always have a couple in love and then SOMETHING happens to tear them apart. That's the story, and I was surprised when all was revealed in The One Day You Were My Husband.
I had a feeling Whiskey Chaser would be a hit for me since Lucy Score was involved. She writes the best small towns filled with quirky characters and zany families. I adored meeting the Bodines. What surprised me was the suspense element AND the fact that the mystery will stretch across the entire six book series. I guess that's just more motivation to read the rest of the books.
And once again, Bailey and Brunner presented me with a wonderful sports romance. I was a big fan of this group after reading the previous book, and it was a thrill to get to know Penn better. As expected, the story was fun, but it also showed how complex Penn was.
