Top Ten Tuesday - Favorites From My Favorites

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

Favorites From My Favorites!

Happy Tuesday! This was such a hard topic! I always find it difficult to pick favorites, and now I am being asked to name favorite authors and my favorite book by them. This is by no means a complete list, but these are authors I have consistently enjoyed over the past few years.

  1. Jill Shalvis - 49 books read, 9 five stars - The Bright Spot
  2. Carley Fortune -5 books read, 4 five stars - Our Perfect Storm
  3. Kristy Woodson Harvey - 9 books read, 3 five stars - Summer of Songbirds
  4. Kristan Higgins - 13 books read, 3 five stars - Pack Up The Moon
  5. Annabel Monaghan - 7 books read, 4 five stars - Nora Goes Off Script
  1. Katherine Center - 14 books read, 5 five stars - Happiness for Beginners
  2. Abby Jimenez - 11 books read, 10 five stars - Part of Your World
  3. Rachel Linden - 4 books read, 4 five stars - Recipe For a Charmed Life
  4. Amy E. Reichert - 5 books read, 5 five stars - The Optimist's Guide to Letting Go
  5. Sarah Addison Allen - 8 books read, 2 five stars - Garden Spells

    1. I loved all her books (you tell by the ratings), but there was something about the setting and the side characters that made a big impression on me.

  2. I love Jill Shalvis, Kristan Higgins and Katherine Center, too. I haven't read that Kristan Higgins, if I remember correctly it was a really sad one and Happiness For Beginners wasn't my favorite from KC, but I loved the film adaptation. I should re-read to see what I think.

    1. It is a sad book, but Higgins found the joy in the healing journey. I ugly cried plenty though. There was something special about Helen rising from the ashes and finding herself and her inner strength. I loved the way they cheered her on, and the romantic subplot worked for me too.

  3. Great looking books. I haven't read any of these.

  4. 49 books by Jill Shalvis?! She must be the Seanan McGuire of contemporary novels 😂. It's notable, though, that you have a lot more 5-star ratings for authors who've written far less books...

    1. Shalvis writes a LOT of books, multiple every year. Her style has evolved over the years, and I am loving her newer stuff. In all fairness, many of these authors have a lot of 4.5 star books which is a great rating.

  5. I also chose a Katherine Center (that I discovered because of you years ago Sam) but it was another one.

    1. All her books are so good, but there was something about this story that really stuck with me.

  6. I wouldn't be able to make such list as I often forget author names. I do seem to have different taste in books so I haven't read of these although I did try to read Garden Spells but couldn't finish that.

    Have a lovely day.

    1. A list of favorites is hard which is why I had to find some sort of angle.

  7. Great choices, Sam. I have read and enjoyed 9 of these authors. I like your favourite pick choices. I still haven't read Pack up the Moon, and really need to move it up the TBR pile.

    1. Have the tissues ready. Pack Up the Moon is a gut punch, but it's a healing journey for the husband. It's hopeful.
