Sundays with Sam - The Sunday Post

Sundays with Sam is a combination of Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

My Week in Review

Happy Sunday and Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. I hope you have a wonderful day and you are well celebrated.

Last Sunday, my daughter and I ordered some food from Kasama. It's a Filipino cafe with a Michelin star tasting menu. We enjoyed a breakfast sandwich and some pastries. It was all delicious! Then, we headed downtown to do some shopping, but it was largely unsuccessful.

On Monday, we went to brunch at a cute place in South Loop and then headed to the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry. It was my Mother's Day outing, and my daughter purchased extra tickets to the Anne Frank and Spiderman exhibits. Anne Frank was all the tears for me. Her story breaks my heart.

Tuesday, I traveled the whole day. There was young child sitting behind me who cried UNTIL we landed. Then, they fell asleep. It was a rough ride too. We had a lot of turbulence, but lines were great and I was on time. It's been a marathon since I got home. I had to meal prep and get everything ready because I had to work the rest of the week in office. I probably should have taken Wednesday off, but I hate wasting days.

Unfortunately, my father was admitted to the hospital on Friday with pneumonia. Keeping our fingers crossed that the antibiotics clear it because pneumonia that doesn't go away is an end symptom for many lung cancer patients. I have visited him, and he looks ok. Hoping for the best.

Stacking the Shelves

I downloaded a few books I am auto approved for. You know I love my Asian Lit, and I had enjoyed Blakely's last book. This one sounded like a fun one to me. I got a few invites. I am drawn to Lina & June and Unfinished Business. I may click those.

Read Last Week

This was a banner week. I was worried I would not get through my TBR due to traveling, but everything was so good, I couldn't put it down.

I had actually started and set aside Broken Country a while ago. Lindsay convinced me to pick it back up, and I have zero regrets. This story was so emotional and full of twists. I was happy that the author left me with hope for these people in the end because they suffered a lot.

My other top book was The Top of the World. I was not shocked as Joella never fails make me feel a lot. This book is about a young man who is preparing to die and his sister as she tries to heal. It was told in three timelines which were blended well together. I loved it and loved the reminder that we need to live life to the fullest.
