A woman finds herself asking surprising questions about her family and friends in this wise, wonderful novel of life, loss, and moving on—from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of After Annie
High school English teacher Polly Goodman can talk about everything and anything with the women in her book club, which is why they’ve become her closest friends and, along with the support of her veterinarian husband, the bedrock of her life. Her private school students, her fraught relationship with mother, her struggles with IVF—Polly’s book club friends have heard it all.
But when they give Polly an ancestry test kit as a joke, the results match her with a stranger. Despite it seeming clear that this match is a mistake, Polly cannot help combing through her own family history for answers. Then, when it seems that the book club circle of four will become three, Polly learns how friendships can change your life in the most profound ways.
Written with Quindlen’s trademark warmth, humor, and insight into the power of love and hope, More Than Enough explores how we find ourselves again and again through the relationships that define us.
After her bookclub friends gifted her a DNA test, Polly's life took some unexpected twists and turns.
As a lover of slice-of-live books that make me emotional, this was perfection. From the very beginning, I fell in love with Polly and her world. She belonged to a bookclub with a rule that they bought and never read the books. She was an English teacher at an all-girls prep school where, as her friend put it, she made girls into women. She was deeply in love with her husband who her brother said must be protected at all costs. She had a cozy life, but things were far from perfect.
Polly had a terrible first marriage, she was losing her friend, her father was disappearing before her eyes, and she was struggling with infertility issues. When the DNA test came back with a match, Polly opened a door to family secrets that she may have wanted to keep closed.
My heart ached, time and time again, for Polly. She was dealing BIG issues, but her toxic trait was keeping things to herself. She was lucky to have so many magnificent people in her life, yet reluctant to lean on them. Her husband was the sweetest, kindest man who put Polly's feelings first. Her brother was another rock in her life. She had her bookclub trio, her in-laws - she was truly blessed, and I was happy to have the opportunity to meet each and every person in her circle.
I won't lie, I was moved to tears (sad ones) several times, but Quindlen did a beautiful job bringing me through the emotional highs and lows. There was endless warmth and humor and alpacas. Yes, I got to visit an alpaca farm (more than once) which was delightful, but I must say, all the animal references made me happy (and there were plenty given her husband's job as a large animal vet).
Overall: I felt privileged to take this moving journey with Polly and was thrilled with the ending of this beautiful story.

This is a love story . . . but not the one you’re expecting.
Start at the End is a powerful, soul-stirring, sliding-doors novel from the bestselling author of The Last Love Note and Pictures of You that explores second chances and unwritten endings.
Audrey and Fraser tumble into a romance for the ages. After an unlikely start, they fall deeply in love and dream of the life they’ll build together—until one tragic moment upends everything. Facing the unimaginable and wrestling with guilt, they’re left haunted by “what ifs,” each asking where they would be if fate had spun a different story.
Start at the End is an unforgettable drama of two soulmates who have to find a way to start over when they had only just begun.
Audrey and Fraser fell in love and planned to spend at least the next 50 years together, but a tragic event robbed them of their future.
*My Emotions, My Emotions* This was such a moving story! It started with a romance that filled my heart with joy, then there was an event that broke my heart, but in the end, I was left sobbing because I was so happy. This was definitely an emotional roller coaster but wholly worth every tear I shed.
Start at the End was a sliding doors story that explored the "what-ifs". I think when things go wrong, we are always left with those questions of how would things have turned out if only I did something differently. Emma Grey did an incredible job exploring those alternatives with respect to Audrey and Fraser's lives. The points of view shifted to reveal the different outcomes, but they were aligned brilliantly showing how they were connectioned.
Overall, this was a beautiful, emotional, and touching story of love, loss, and second chances.
