Sundays with Sam - The Sunday Post

Sundays with Sam is a combination of Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

My Week in Review

Happy Sunday! I hope you had a great week. It was return to the grind this week. I started my Monday drive to the office. I think I picked the right day. The mornings are always about an hour there because it's early, but I made pretty good time home in the afternoon as well (a little over an hour). Trains were more or less on time for the other two days, so at least I didn't have any commuting drama. The weather was nice. We had a few mornings above freezing and beautiful afternoons. It's supposed to stay nice until later this week, so I will be enjoying the higher temperatures while I can.

I had Friday off because I had to get my yearly physical. The doctor knows what a medical avoider I am, so she got me to do my first Shingles shot while I was there. My arm is still swollen today. That shot is no joke.

I got a bunch of invites this week. I may download If You Were Here. I always enjoy Johnson's books.

Read Last Week

No five-star reads this week, but I had two that stood out from the rest. Twice was a very interesting story about a man who could relive a moment in his life but only twice. I love the idea of second chances, but this book also used that magic in interesting ways and made me think about how I would use those opportunities.  I also really enjoyed Checking It Twice. My love for holiday romances runs deep, and once again, there was a great family who made this one merry and bright, and I loved the way they fully embraced the heroine who was usually on her own for the holidays. Fun and sweet.

    1. You cannot drive your car if it's too cold? I hope it warms up for you then.

  3. Yes, the shingles vaccination is no joke! It was worse than the Covid ones, to me and my husband! I felt like I had the flu for at least two days! Still, I'd much rather have the effects of those shots than shingles! You can get shingles in places you DO NOT want them! Eyes for one and other parts...I've heard stories! Hope you enjoy A Merry Little Lie. Loved it!

    1. The only thing I had was a sore arm (still sore), so I suppose I am lucky. Though I heard the second dose is worse. Better than shingles . I am about 3/4 through Merry Little Lie. This family is precious even if they keep many secrets.

    1. Only get congested when I near my neck of the woods. It's terrible up here.

  6. I feel your pain of an office trip! This week I had to drive to a meeting at one of our corporate locations, about a 3-hour drive from my house. It made for a 12-hour day!
