Can't Wait Wednesday!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

This week I can't wait for

Ready or Scot...

Globetrotter Addie Macrae always follows her wanderlust. As a travel consultant, she jet sets around the world—anywhere but Scotland. But when she’s sent on assignment to help a struggling family-run tour company in the Highlands—and save her own job—Addie packs away her emotional baggage and turns on the professional charm.

Rugged as the land he loves, Logan Sutherland’s greatest joy is sharing the beauty of Scotland’s hidden gems…even if it means a wee bit of red ink on the company’s bottom line. The last thing Logan wants is some American “expert” pushing tourist traps and perpetuating myths about the Loch Ness Monster—especially when Addie never leaves her desk to experience the country for herself.

As they wage an office war, Logan discovers Addie’s secret connection to Scotland: a handful of faded Polaroids of her late mother. Hoping for a truce, he creates a private tour to the places in the pictures to help Addie find closure and appreciate the enchantment in less-traveled destinations, never expecting the off-limits attraction sparking between them. But Addie’s contract is almost up, and magic won’t pay the bills. They can’t afford distractions, but how can Addie do her job if she hasn’t explored all Scotland—and Logan—have to offer?

I have actually never been to Scotland, but I have experienced so many fantastic visits via books. I find myself drawn to stories set there for some reasons, and this one sounds like it will touch my heart. In the last part of the synopsis, it talks of Addie's late mother and Logan creating a private tour based on the pictures he discovered of her mother. My heart! I love this! I expect to feel some feels as they do this memory tour, but I am also interested in the storyline involving saving the family business. I have a thing for comebacks and that combine with some grief and loss is a winning combination for me.

My Darling Bride
 by Ilsa Madden-Mills

In a sizzling romance that sparkles with wit and depth, two wounded souls meet by chance in the desert and agree to get married, and their lives will never be the same.

On a normal day, Emmaline Darling isn’t a car thief. She’s just a simple girl who runs a bookstore and adores cats. But when she’s stranded in the desert and needs to get away from her dangerous ex-boyfriend, she picks her only option: swiping the keys to a famous football player’s Lamborghini and speeding away.

Football star Graham Harlan is in chaos. First he took a hit on the field that left him with a near-death experience, and now he’s promised his brother he’ll get married to secure the family inheritance. Trouble is he isn’t even seeing anyone.

Then a mystery woman steals his car. With his usual stubbornness, he tracks her all the way to Manhattan and gives her an ultimatum: marry me or I’ll press charges.

Her choice is obvious, only neither of them expect the sparks that ignite between them.

As the end of their arrangement looms, will Graham take a chance on love or let his darling walk away forever?

I am a Madden-Mills fan and pretty much automatically add her books to my TBR. With an interesting meet-cute and a marriage of convenience, this already sounds like a good time to me. But, I can keep checking off things I tend to enjoy:

  • The hero is a football player
  • The heroine runs a bookstore
  • Did someone mention cats?
  • A blackmail wedding
I have faith that  Madden-Mills will take all these elements and produce something that will make me laugh and evoke some sort of emotion.

  3. Ilsa's is definitely one I'm looking forward to picking up. But I have to say that the title Kilt Trip is enough to make me want to pick it up, too.

    1. The Madden-Mills book was good. I didn't realize it would be the Strangers in Love world (or adjacent). It was fun to catch up with the Pythons new QB. He was hilarious in the other books, and he still was here.
