Top Ten Tuesday - Isn't It Romantic?

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

Isn't It Romantic!

Happy Tuesday! This week we have a genre freebie. I have always loved romances books. Even when I pick up a book that is not necessarily a romance, I am thrilled if there is a romantic subplot. I subscribe to the definition of genre romance. The romance should be front-and-center, and there should be an HEA. Below are some recent romantic reads that wowed me. Please feel free to share some of your favorites for my TBR.

  1. Faking Christmas by Kerry Winfrey
  2. The Roommate Pact by Allison Ashley
  3. Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez
  4. You, Again by Lauren Layne
  5. The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
  1. Change of Plans by Dylan Newton
  2. Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune
  3. Hello Stranger by Katherine Center
  4. You, With a View by Jessica Joyce
  5. Play for Me by Libby Hubscher

Do you enjoy romances?

  1. Big yes to the definition of romance: the relationship is the focus and there has to be an HEA. It amazes me that people still get confused about what is romance. Or think a book with a tragic end is a romance. Nope!

    1. Right? I had this fight with readers I respect. They can think what they want even if they are wrong

    2. Haha! My ears are burning. I will go down with this ship, though. I still think it's primarily an American (publishers) genre rule. ;)

  2. I read and loved 5 of these. If you loved the other 5, I know they're good!

  5. You already know I love a good romance. Most of the ones I read have a paranormal element to them though.

    1. I read a lot of PNR in the 2010s, not so much anymore, but I wouldn't rule them out

  7. Great list, Sam. I have read 3 of these and have 3 on my TBR. I agree, I also think a romance needs a happily ever after.

    1. I don't know who started this tragic ending thing, but I cannot call that a romance. I usually label stuff like that "love story". It can be about a romantic relationship, but the ending can also be terrible with a love story

  8. I'm not much of a romance reader, at least not when it's front and center in a book. I prefer it as a subplot. I have enjoyed several of Center's books, though. I'm tempted by the Fortune one as well since it seems like everyone loves it.

    Happy TTT (on a Thursday)!

    1. Though Center's books have big romantic subplots, I always feel that they are more about the female MCs journey (women's fiction). Her more recent books have made the romances a bigger part of the story though, and they have HEAs. Both Carley Fortune's books bring the heartbreak, but they are wonderful

  11. I love romance so much and always look forward to that HEA! I still need to read a couple of Lauren Layne's books, but I've been saving them for when I desperately need something I know I will love. Only With You & Made For You ♥.

    1. There are some LL books I have to read, too. She was a writing machine at one point. I have not read any of her suspense books (not really my thing), but I have done a good job keeping up with the new stuff. I read Only With You, but not the other. It's on my Hoopla wish list.
