My Week in Review
Happy Sunday! Hope everyone had a great week. The best thing that happened this week was that my daughter came to visit. She flew in on Tuesday, and she came bearing gifts for no reason. She got us matching Summer Cats print bags. I love it!!! And she brought me my favorite Hello Kitty ube mooncake. It's delicious. She also got me some macarons from Laduree when she was in the city the other day. Nothing like baked goods to win my heart. Today, we are heading to the city. We are going to do brunch and a show. It should be a good time.

I added a few newbies this week. There were two read-now books on Netgalley that caught my eye. I was very excited to see a new book by Jen Doyle. It's been a long time since I read something by her, but I have always enjoyed her books. It's Hard to Be an Animal was on my TBR and on sale, so I one-clicked. I am hoping it lives up to the comps mentioned. I got an invite that I will most likely download, and the rest were freebies that appealed to me.

Read Last Week
This was a decent reading week. No DNFs and everything 4 stars and above. My favorite of the week was Tropesick. I knew I would enjoy the book, but I LOVED it! The whole leaning into all the popular romance tropes was a lot of fun, but this was also a second chance romance between two people with a very emotional connection. The author did a great job keeping it balance, and the ending came out of nowhere. I would have never predicted that. This was a good time.

I love the bag! Enjoy your time with your daughter.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am a sucker for a cute bag.
DeleteYour daughter spoils you! 😉 Glad your week was sweet (in every sense LOL) and relaxing. Think I could get away with sitting on a capybara? I mean, I'm small! 😂
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to be spoiled. Hmmm, I would also like to sit on a capybara. You know, they have capybara cafes. I need to go to there.
DeleteOh, I strive to be as chill as the capybara. They are so stinking cute! 🥰 Also, how wonderful that your daughter came to visit bearing gifts! That bag is adorable. I hope you had a wonderful day in the city today! Curious to hear your thoughts on The Wedding People. That's been on my TBR for a while, not sure why I keep putting it off! 🫣 Have a great week ahead!
ReplyDeleteThey are majestic creatures. The Wedding People was overall - good. It did some of that literary fiction stuff that makes me nuts, but it was a compelling story with some sharp humor that won me over.
DeleteCute bag!! I hope you have a fabulous time with your daughter!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThat's wonderful that your daughter brought you gifts.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice when the kids have jobs and can bring gifts.
DeleteLove the purse, which is not a surprise considering how much I love cats! And baked good from Laduree! Yum! Sounds like a nice visit. I just started Chase Me if You Can and I'm enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteI am loving Chase Me. The storm stuff is cook, but I adore the couple. The hero really won me over.
DeleteIt sounds like a wonderful time with your daughter. I'm always down for some brunch haha!
ReplyDeleteI see you're reading The Wedding People. I remember really liking it, so I'm eager to hear your thoughts.
I've got a short work week this week so that I can travel to California for the weekend. My husband has been working out there this week, so we decided to make a detour to Disneyland. I'm really looking forward to it!
Overall, I thought The Wedding People was good. The story and humor were excellent. I thought it was a bit vulgar at times (which is something that puts me off with a lot of literary fiction), but I was onboard with seeing how things worked out for Phoebe. I hope you have a safe trip and a fantastic time at Disneyland. I like that park. It had a lot of charm being on a smaller scale than Orlando.
DeleteLooks like you have had a great week there. Love that your daughter came to visit you and such a cute purse. I am really curious about that tornado romance with 'Chase Me If You Can' and I haven't heard of Leanna Morgan but that cover is super romantic. Hope you have a good week there.
ReplyDeleteWe love cute bags, but it's really nice to get a gift for no reason. I am loving Chase Me. The couple is great and the weather stuff is interesting.
DeleteAww, your daughter is so sweet!
ReplyDeleteI feel lucky
DeleteI'm late as normal and trying to catch up on posts that I missed while away. It sounds like you had a wonderful visit with your daughter and what a cute bag. I hope your last week was a good one.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I felt so loved with all my gifts from the kid. I like getting gifts for no reason. It's very rare.
