My Week in Review
Happy Sunday! Things are looking up here with some ok temperatures this week. Yesterday, we were at 46°F - amazing! It's supposed to be a bit cooler today, but still 40s!!! I am glad since I am heading the city to see a show. My daughter flew in on Thursday, and we are actually going out together today.
I am sitting here and thinking about last week makes me tired. They keep putting in changes at work and neglecting to tell us about them. My manager didn't even know about this tech thing they did until after the fact, and of course, it made a mess that we had to clean up. In the long run, it's automating something that is time consuming for people in my role, but a heads up would have been nice. My peers really had to do the lion's share of the fixing since I was reviewing the bank complaints this week. Needless to say, I was happy to log off on Friday.

Stacking the Shelves
I downloaded a few freebies. One is set in Idaho, and that is not an easy state to find. The book sounded pretty good, so I clicked. Johnson's book was on sale, and I enjoy her books, again, I clicked. I got a bunch of invites. The Responsible Party is new to me and sounds good. I am also eyeing the Porter book since I enjoyed the author's previous release, as well as Second Chance Duet which sounds like a lot of fun.

Read Last Week
My week was a good one. It started out with a 5-star book, and I never expected it. The reviews for Heart the Lover made me check this one out from my library, but literary fiction is hit or miss for me. The author did a few things that tend to annoy me with literary fiction, but I forgave it all because I really enjoyed this. It was very emotional and had things that I could relate to. Now I have to read Writers & Lovers by King.
Bastone's upcoming release was excellent. Very emotional but she did a great job tempering it with humor. This is author is new to me, but I loved Save the Date. It was fun, but that ending was so unexpected, wonderful, and very meaningful. I cried. Chasing Home was another standout for me. I want to go back and listen to all the books because I loved the family and setting so much.

I'm glad you get to spend time with your daughter after a frustrating week.
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice to actually do something together this weekend too.
DeleteWork is exhausting on my side too and winter is exhausting in general. The more I age the less I like the short days!
ReplyDeleteWinter really is the worst. I don't know how people live in places with extra winter
DeleteHappy to hear the weather isn't as miserable and your daughter came out for a visit! Hope you enjoyed the show! Hope everything gets smoothed out at work. That would be annoying.
ReplyDeleteThe snow piles are shrinking which is great to see. It snowed a little last night, but it didn't stick since the ground was warm. Just had to clear the car. The show was great, other than the train, it all went well.
DeleteGlad you were able to find a state you needed! Sorry work has been frustrating. I was all too ready for a three day weekend to rest and reset. Hopefully you got today off as well! I took personal days this month to spend time with family, and I cannot wait to have that time off from work. Hopefully my students survive. I have The Book Witch coming up as well. I hope we both love it!
ReplyDeleteI am always ready for a long weekend. LOL! Hope you had a good one. The students will always survive. It's great you can get the time.
DeleteI hope you had fun with your daughter! I get super irritated when work doesn't tell me about changes. Recently, they surprised me with a new computer. They didn't give me a chance to get everything off the old computer.
ReplyDeleteRight? I need to mentally prepare. I am not an ER doctor or any such type of on the fly sort of employee. Oh, a new computer is nice, but I would want to make sure I had all my files too.
DeleteSorry that work is stressful.
ReplyDeleteWork is work. I just hate that all the issues come to a head around quitting time especially on in-office days. I am not missing my train
DeleteUgh, we have a newish guy at work and he is changing the way we do things - it's making my job so much more difficult! I hate changes at work.
ReplyDeleteI just wish they actually consulted with people who do the job because I had no problem seeing the issues that would arise. Good luck!
DeleteThat sounds like a really frustrating time at work! I'm sorry that you had to go through that. I hope the week ahead is better for you, Sam. Glad to hear that you enjoyed Heart the Lover. I've been hesitant to try King's work because I wasn't sure if it would work for me, but I'm always intrigued by her titles. I do have this one on my TBR though and hopefully, I'll enjoy it too!
ReplyDeleteRead the other book first is you do decide to jump in. There is a connection between Writers and Lovers and Heart the Lover. I am going back to read that one.
DeleteI can see how frustrating that would be when they change things and don't tell the people that it will effect. I'm glad you got to spend time with your daughter. What show did you see? The weather is warming up at home as well, but they are dealing with a lot of fog, which is tough when driving. It sounds like you had some good reading this week, and I hope this week is another good one.
ReplyDeleteWe saw Just in Time with Jonathan Groff (in the basement of Wicked). It was expensive (for me) but great.
