Sundays with Sam - The Sunday Post

Sundays with Sam is a combination of Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews.
My Week in Review

I am writing this post from my new MacBook. I got an Air this time, since all I really do is email and internetting. It was a struggle actually getting the computer, since UPS didn't bother to ring the bell, and then the driver didn't drop my package off at the retail site until the end of the second day, but it's here, and it's lovely and new. Every time I get a new electronic device, I am always struck with how everything keeps getting thinner and thinner. Amazing!

I need to remember how long the affects of dilation affect me when I go for my eye check up next year. Seriously couldn't see properly for 6 hours, and did not accomplish half the things I had hoped to get done on my day off. Lesson learned.

It's that time of year at work again! The time of year, where they let us wear jeans for weeks. I swear! I thought Christmas came early, when I read that email, and bonus - there was cake too. Could my Friday have been any better?

Interesting to Me:

I see a bunch of books I really loved on this list. Do you agree with any of these "slump-busters"?

Some fun recs here

File this under I-can't-get-enough-of-it, because I think I watched this 30 or more times. Laughed every time too.

What I Read Last Week

My favorite book this week was Wild on My Mind. You know how we always talk about cozy mysteries? Well, this is a cozy romance. It was so sweet and heartwarming, and all the animal antics just added to the fun. I probably would have 5-starred it, if I hadn't felt like a particular thing was explained a little too often, but still I could not stop smiling when I read it.

What I Am Currently Reading

I am finally getting to Restore Me. I am about 75% though, and I am pretty impressed with some of the surprises Mafi had for me. I am already preparing for heartbreak at this point, but I keep reminding myself that there are two more books left in which things can be fixed.

What I Plan to Read

How was your week?

    1. That panda is epic! Restore Me is going quite well, even if Mafi is breaking my heart.

  2. That panda video was adorable! I'm not one for apple products (android all that way!) but I really do like the look of the macbooks... Glad you're happy with it.

I'm looking forward to reading America's Sweetheart! :)

    1. That panda won my heart! Oddly enough, I never had an iPhone, but I made the computer switch years ago, when I kept getting plagued with viruses. I find the computer more dependable.

  3. Hooray for the new Macbook! I haven't worked on a Mac in 20+ years, when my company switched from Macs to PCs. I would probably be lost! That panda video is fabulous. :) You have me nervous about Restore Me. Gah! I can't handle any more heartbreak right now after my most recent read. I better wait a bit longer. LOL

    1. Once I wasn't a power user anymore, I switched to Mac. At work we have PCs, but I don't find it too difficult to switch back and forth. You know Mafi had to blow something up to get 3 more books out of the series.

  5. Ooh, congrats on your new machine :) I haven't done a dilation in years, they used to do those back in school for us. And then told us not to do anything for a whole day :D thank god for audiobooks, I guess?
Oh man, thanks for sharing the panda video :) adorable!

    1. I didn't realize they dilated me until it was too late. They won't trick me next time. That panda clip must be shared with the world. I cannot imagine someone NOT smiling when they view it.

  6. The Last Wish of Sasha Cade is one I'm looking forward to!

I love wearing jeans to work, but I really only do it when I know I'm going to be the only one there!

    1. I am starting Sasha Cade today. I am drying my happy tears right now from my last book, and I will prepare for sad tears for Sasha. I work in a Call center. There are NO clients on site. I think we should be able to wear jeans all the time. I hate dress pants.

  7. Sam I LOVE having new technology. Macbook Air even better! I had the first Macbook when they changed from Powerbook to Macbook, actually thinking of getting another 12" one soon for blogging.

  8. Oh nice new reads! Seeing a bit of Paper Girl today!

Sounds like you had a great week! I could never decide if I wanted an Apple computer for myself. I've always hand PCs and that's how all my documents and whatnot are programmed for. I'd hate to have to reconfigure everything! I bought myself a new laptop last month and am really liking it! So much better than my old one which was only a few years old but never cooperated with me.

Ah, I miss being able to wear jeans at work. My current job doesn't have a casual Friday at all. It's a bummer. Hoping that when I find a new job I can indulge in that long ago luxury! Lol!

    Happy Reading!

    1. Yes. I love all my new stuff ONCE it's set up. I had a lot less trouble with this Mac than I did with my cell phone. Apple has some nice transfer features built right in. It took like 15 minutes to set up.

  12. I didn't know the effects of eye dilation could last that long! I have an appointment coming up so that's good to know.

I'm looking forward to Avery's story in Chasing Shadows. I wasn't a fan of her in the last book at first, but she grew on me. I'll have to check out Wild on My Mind. I love heartwarming romances especially with animals! Such a sucker for them. :)

    1. I don't know if it's the same for everyone, but what a waste of a day. I wore sunglasses, but couldn't see anything that was too small. It could be a combination of the dilation and my craptastic eyes. I feel like there is a lot more to Avery than meets the eye. We have so few details about her backstory, but I feel like Bybee will give us something to justify her behaviors. I had ZERO expectations for Wild on My Mind, and found myself so in love with it. The animals are all over the story too.

    1. I was all set up in about 15 mins. Mac's iCloud did the job, and I have an external drive with my files. No problem. I can already tell I am going to be sad at the end of Restore Me, so, uh, Mafi needs to get those other two books written ASAP and put me out of my misery.

  15. That reminds me, I need to book in my eye test as well. I only started wearing glasses two years ago when I'm on the laptop or reading, so it's still taking a while to remember to put them on all the time. I love new technology but have never owned an Apple product, they're typically expensive in Australia and Windows laptops in comparison are typically better quality for the price they charge. I loved the Shatter Me series but keep putting off reading Restore Me. I'm nervous the series isn't going to feel the same as the first three books or it'll disappoint me. I'll be eagerly awaiting your review for that one. Have a great week of reading! ♡♡♡

  24. Panda videos are so adorable! I gave up on the Shatter Me series so long ago and I have no idea why. I hate it when I DNF books and don't bother writing down why I disliked it. The covers just keep getting better and better for that series though. I hope you love your new macbook air. I have a 2011 macbook pro and it still works to this day. To say I'm impressed with it's durability is putting it mildly :)

  25. I'm so jealous I love getting new tech! I always eye up macbooks when I'm wandering the tech section of shops and I really wanted the macbook pro with that touch bar when I was laptop shopping last year but I am so ingrained in windows stuff I just could never make the switch (although they are petty). I am always impressed with how light laptops get as you compare the old to the new and then you give it a few weeks and start complaining how heavy it is and it weighs you down when you carry it about. I wish my laptop was this light when I was at uni though my poor back carrying it to the library! I'm totally bookmarking the slump busting booklist (you never know when a slump will hit!) and that panda in the snow is so cute! That's getting bookmarked for if I'm having a bad day.
