Can't Wait Wednesday!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

This week I can't wait for:

Top Ten Tuesday: Highly Anticipating

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

Highly Anticipating!

We are halfway through 2020. Can you believe it? With half the year behind us, it is time to think about our next batch of anticipated books. You all know I have an endless TBR, so I am going to focus on YA books, which I don't already have. Most of these are by authors I have grown to love, but a few are new-to-me, and I am very excited to get acquainted with their storytelling.

Top Ten Tuesday: Outside YA

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

Outside YA!

Today, we are supposed to highlight books we don't usually feature. WLABB was started as a YA blog, and I try to stay true to the founding bloggers vision by featuring mostly YA books. But, I do read outside of YA, and I have encountered some real gems, which I want to scream about. Without further ado, here are some brilliant middle grades books I have read, in the recent past, which deserve some of my love.

From Newbery Medalist Cynthia Kadohata comes a brilliantly realized sports novel about a hockey player who must discover who he is without the sport that defines him.

Hockey is Conor’s life. His whole life. He’ll say it himself, he’s a hockey beast. It’s his dad’s whole life too—and Conor is sure that’s why his stepmom, Jenny, left. There are very few things Conor and his dad love more than the game, and one of those things is their Doberman, Sinbad. When Sinbad is diagnosed with cancer, Conor chooses to put his hockey lessons and practices on hold so they can pay for Sinbad’s chemotherapy.

But without hockey to distract him, Conor begins to notice more. Like his dad’s crying bouts, and his friend’s difficult family life. And then Conor notices one more thing: Without hockey, the one thing that makes him feel special, is he really special at all?

Sundays with Sam - The Sunday Post

Sundays with Sam is a combination of Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

My Week in Review

My week started with tears, when I had to drive my daughter to the airport. It was so nice having her home. I will miss her, and am looking forward to seeing her in May. We survived the snow cyclone. Congratulations, everyone! AND, I heard the temperatures are going to be in the 30s soon. Yes, this has me excited.
