My Week in Review
Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is doing well. What did I do this week? I went and had my eye treatment, and there were no issues with the laser. That was a plus. Other than that, same old, same old. I do have a short week this week because I am flying to Chicago for my daughter's dance showcase. That is always great. Here's hoping there are no issues at the airport.
I don't know if I have mentioned that my Kindle battery kept draining quite rapidly. I was shocked. So, I did what any normal person did and hit up Google. One suggestion was to turn the Kindle on airplane mode. Apparently active WiFi is know to be a drain on the battery. I put that bad boy on airplane mode, and now, I am charging like once a week. Amazing!

Stacking the Shelves
So many freebies, so little time. I have a soft spot for hockey romances, and I could not help but click. I got a few invites too. Bonfire & Bliss Bookstore was on my TBR, so that was a nice treat. Counting the Days is new-to-me, but I think I would like it. Not sure what I will download. I click a eight of my widgets the other day. I have to really think about it.

Read Last Week
I had two DNFs and was a bit disappointed with one book, but I also had a 5-star read. Not a terrible week. My favorite was the new Anna Quindlen. This book was emotional and wonderful. I loved the way the main character's world grew due to one of those ancestry test kits. So many surprises and a beautiful focus on found family and connection. I loved it!

Nice week indeed! Have a great visit with Kiersten (and I'm crossing my fingers for the airport stuff...especially in the current climate).
ReplyDeleteThe airport stuff is more about TSA agent shortages. My daughter had no issues at Newark or O'Hare, so I am hoping for the same.
DeleteI knew that about the battery Sam. Yet if I go on airplane mode my Kindle is so old that it doesn't always get back to wifi after! Also yay for a successful eye treatment and enjoy your daughter's dance show!
ReplyDeleteMy kindle is NOT old and I paid a good amount for it. I have been frustrated with the battery life.
DeleteHope your trip out to Chicago is easy breezy! I keep my Kindle on airplane mode most of the time because I'll download a library lend and if I'm not done in the lending time it doesn't automatically delete it. I'm having more trouble with the charging port not connecting well. My Kindle is getting old! The new ones are pricey, but they might be lighter weight. I'll look into them when this one really starts acting up.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has the same strategy with library loans and the airplane mode. I got this kindle a year or two ago when my Oasis would not hold charge any longer (I miss my Oasis, it was the best Kindle I had), and it can charge by induction.
DeleteHooray for short work weeks! Safe travels and have a great visit with your daughter!
ReplyDeleteYep, short work weeks are great. Thank you!
DeleteHave fun at your daughter's dance recital.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the airport goes smoothly.
I just used my tablet for the first time with the Kindle app since the older one I use will no longer update or download books soon. I had no idea I had to sync the Kindle each time I had a NetGalley book sent to that kindle. lol Google to the rescue.
I have not heard any horror stories from Newark, so I hoping for the best. I have two kindle fires and an android tablet. They are a lot heavier than my kindle. I struggle with reading on them during my commute.
DeleteHave a safe and fun trip!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your week
Thank you!
DeleteI hope you had or have a great visit with your daughter and her dance showcase is wonderful. Short work weeks are always good weeks. Too bad about the DNFs, 2 in one week is tough. I hope you are enjoying your current reads, Sam.
ReplyDeleteI am so moody and have no patience for books that aren't doing it for me, but I did read some great books too.
