Sundays with Sam - The Sunday Post

Sundays with Sam is a combination of Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

My Week in Review

Happy Sunday! This week was filled with some whiplash weather. There were days when it was in the 20s in the mornings with highs in the 30s. One day there was some heavy snow flurries, then the rain moved, and it was about 60 today. You know I opened the window. It's going to be pretty mild this week, and there will be no complaints from me.

It's the final month of 2023! Crazy! I love this month though because I have one day off every week until the end of the year. It's the best. I was considering heading out to the stores on my day off this week. I am trying to find another pair of shoes that can fit my orthotics and have a bit of a wider toe box. I had ordered a pair of Birkenstocks, but the orthotics didn't fit. It was so easy to do the return to Zappos though. They give you lots of options. I was impressed.

I am starting to take it personally that my replies on my own blog are being sent to spam. Seriously, it's my blog! Anyone else have this problem with Blogger?

Stacking the Shelves

I was happy to get an approval this week. It's been slow. I couldn't resist picking up Van2. Bennett has never done a sequel to one of her hockey romances before. I am curious. I have to do a re-listen to Van before I read it though. Van was part of the Cold Fury series which I read back in 2017. I need to get my details straight before returning to this couple.

I got a few anthologies for free too. Both have stories from some great authors. I am looking forward to reading some of them.

Read Last Week

I feel like I got my reading mojo back. I had a lot of high ratings, and that makes me happy. Not sure if I can choose between Last Call at the Local or Recipe for a Charmed Life as my favorite of the week. They were both amazing for me, but very different from each other. I was smiling my face off by the end of them both, but I was also crying at the end of Charmed Life. It was very emotional for me.

I am still listening to The Graham Effect. I didn't have much time to listen to it, but I almost done. It seems like a promising start to this series.

My loan for the next Tradd Street book came through, and I am excited to continue this series.

  1. I'm having the same problem with spam comments. Too many things are now being sent to the spam folder. My blog gets lots of actual spam comments, so I can see why Blogger is confused, but it's annoying.

    1. I get spam every now and then, but I don't spam myself.

LOL, yeah, it happens to me sometimes. Or it takes some old comments (especially Karen's...???) and reverts them to spam. It never used to happen until...last year, I think?

I hope you get to enjoy this more relaxed month!

    1. I saw that too with old comments. It's so odd that I am not recognized properly.

  3. That's kind of funny your own replies are going to spam, but also annoying. I hope it stops! Enjoy all those days off!

    1. It's very weird considering that I don't have to approve my replies, and it's after the fact too. I will see the reply, and a few days later, it will be in spam. Strange

  4. That's great that you now have one day off every week till the end of the year! And I hope that you'll solve the problem or reply comments going into spam!

    1. It's better than the nonce error. I got that yesterday when I commented on your post, but the second time worked. It scared me a little. You know me and nonce have some bad history

  5. Yes, my own comments land in my spam box sometimes, too. That reminds me it's been a while since I've checked.

    1. I check every day because of that. It's mostly filled with my comments. Obviously, I spam my own blog. Glad it's not just me.

    1. I am glad I put this question out there. I thought it was just me (and my terrible history with commenting systems)

  7. I remember when people were talking about that on Blogger, and judging from some of the earlier comments is still a thing. Huh.

I love the look of that holiday anthology. I wish we got more of those.

    1. --Sigh-- It's not the worst commenting problem, but it's one more thing I have to check. At least it's not just me. I love anthologies for books in the way I love music festivals music - it's a way to discover new creators.

  8. I don't have blogger but I should probably check my spam. I am positive that I have went into the spam box on several blogs since I bought a new computer. I do appreciate the milder weather that we had here today. Good luck shoe shopping!

    1. Maybe you are my anonymous comments? I have been getting more of those, but they sound like a WLABB regular.

  9. Yes! My own comments go into the spam folder too. I check it every few days. Yay for having a day off every week! You've been having some really cold weather! We were dipping into the 30s at night but we've warmed up into the 40s as a low again. Had a bunch of rain today but I was gone for most of it.

I'm popping over to the library for the Tradd Street books before I forget once again!

    1. I live in the northeast, so the weather being cold isn't odd. I mean, I don't like it, but I don't like the heat either. 50 -80 all the time would be great. I just put a hold on the third Tradd Street book. I am enjoying the series. Jack and Melanie are driving me up the wall with the push and pull. Maybe book three will be the one they finally give in.

  10. Blogger sends random comments to spam, it's so weird! This weather has been wild. Hooray for short weeks for the rest of the year, that's awesome!

    1. Seems like everyone is having whiplash weather. Saturday was so nice though, and today was good too. Not too cold this morning.

  11. Yeah the reason I left blogger was all the glitches I got especially for scheduling posts and commenting. The weather has been all over the place here. It can't decide between rain or snow lol Hope you have a great reading week there. I have heard good things about that Elle Kennedy, just not a fan of the cover so eventually I will get to it.

    1. I never had a posting problem on Blogger. I had so many missed posts with WP, and the commenting issues on WP had me in tears. Other than my comments going to spam, I don't have people messaging me all the time about issues commenting. I liked the Kennedy book. It was a bit long, but the story was good and it was nice to see some of the Off Campus folks.

  12. 2023 has definitely been the year of the blogging issues for so many of us. I know I almost pulled the plug on mine after all of the issues I've had. I hope the spam issue gets resolved soon. I'm excited to see those 5 star ratings for both Last Call at the Local and Charmed Life. Those are both highly anticipated 2024 reads for me.

    1. The spam is so minor. I just peek and approve. It's not unsolvable like all the WP issues I had (still don't know how to fix them). Ruiz is a favorite of mine, and she delivered again. I really find Linden's books to be charming and packed with a lot of heart.

  13. It seems like all of my regular blog buddies are getting sent to spam, though I've yet to have my own comments be sent there. I understand the need for security, but this is getting out of hand!

    1. So, we comment too much, must be spam. I moderate, you would think the filter would recognize people I approve. I don't much about how it works, but in my mind, it should do that.
