Six Degrees of Separation - October 2023

Six Degrees of Separation is hosted by Kate at booksaremyfavoriteandbest. A book is selected each month as the starting point for us to link to six other books. I go a bit rouge by selecting my own book from the previous months’ Five Star Friday, but still maintain the spirit of the meme.

An undercover CIA agent is sent home to investigate her sister's criminal fiancé but the last thing she expects is to fall in love with his bodyguard along the way in this sexy romantic comedy.

It’s been a long time since Sydney Swift has gone home. An unrelentingly successful CIA field officer, she has spent the last three years pretending to be someone — anyone — other than herself.

But this year, the festive season is coming with some added surprises. Sydney’s beloved little sister has just announced that she’s engaged to Johnny Jones, the heir of an organized crime dynasty. With her built-in cover and her best-in-class reputation, Sydney is approached by the FBI as their way to infiltrate the Jones family at last.

Sydney has until Christmas to gather enough evidence on Johnny to take him down before he pulls off his most dangerous heist yet, all without losing her sister forever. But she hasn’t counted on the challenge of pulling this off right under her family’s nose or the complications of a romantic entanglement with Johnny’s handsome friend and bodyguard, Nick. Sydney always gets her man — but this time love is a target she can’t afford to miss.

  1. Sydney in The Takedown is a CIA agent, and the main character in The Blonde Identity is mistaken for her CIA agent twin sister.
  2. The Blonde Identity takes place in France, as does Lucy Checks In where the Lucy is determined to save a charming crumbling hotel.
  3. Like Lucy Checks In, The Maid also takes place in a hotel and features a colorful cast of characters.
  4. The main character in The Maid, Molly, is a maid, as is Liv in The Messy Lives of Book People
  5.  Liv accidentally becomes a ghost writer when one of her favorite authors passes away suddenly, and Florence from The Dead Romantics is also a ghostwriter.
  6. Florence's family ran a funeral parlor, and so does Mercy's family in The Undertaking of Hart & Mercy.

  2. Connecting it to Poston's and Bannen's books has me wanting to read it even more now! I love the two elements it is connected to!

    1. I don't think there is a direct connection between the Takedown and those books, but it was a grate action packed rom-com (I know, seems odd, but it worked)

  3. As I loved the Maid I might consider reading that one!
