Sundays with Sam - The Sunday Post

Sundays with Sam is a combination of Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

My Week in Review

Hmmmm, so there are actually a few highlights this week.

First of all, WLABB turned 7!!! I am doing a Twitter give away, so go over there and enter. People I interact with have actually won in the past (which is always thrilling for me).

The Mother's Day gift shipped, and it was less than 43 days. Another win. This is a three day weekend here in the states. I have exactly zero plans, but I don't have to login to work on Monday, so, YEAH! I can read and play my games more. Maybe, I will even write a review. Anything is possible.

I am still working hard on my island, but having some fun too.

(L) Me and Norma twinning
(R) Me making FETCH happen

 (L) I was FINALLY got to wish upon some stars
(R) Vesta being oblivious while I am trying to pave her patio

(L, C) The islanders wearing Kiersten's designs
(R) Me wishing I could sit on the grass with my friends

What I Read Last Week

People!!! They said it was a rom-com, and it was a rom-com!!! I am talking about The Marriage Game, and I have to say, I had THE BEST time reading this book. It was funny, swoony, sexy, and filled with fantastic characters. I wholeheartedly endorse this book.

I also really loved the new Abbi Waxman book. It's about a mother and daughter relationship, and I found it very relatable. I love Waxman's humor, and it's displayed well in this book. I found myself feeling a lot of feels too.

And, yes, I was CoHoed. Tears were flowing, as expected. I took the plunge, and listened to Five Feet Apart. The recommended spacing for CF patients is six feet, and every time it came up in the story, I was thinking about how everyone is living that way right now. Anyhow, this was some serious sick kid lit. CF is a brutal disease, and this book doesn't hold back. Every time I thought it couldn't get more heartbreaking, it got more heartbreaking. I will admit, I ugly cried, and had a headache once I was done. It was a nice ending though. I am curious if anyone saw the film, because I saw a review, which said it ended differently from the book. Curious as to what they did there.

    1. That bird can really move. Impressive. The E Lockhart book sounds really interesting. I like her a lot, and am curious to see how this alternate universe thing plays out in her book

  2. Happy bloggyversary thing! Quiet week here with lots of Harry Potter (films and reading the Half Blood Prince again), ignoring the news, having to do lots of housework and experimenting with a bit of mail order cooking!

    1. Mail order cooking, like those boxes? I am always curious about those meal boxes, the ones where they send you ingredients and the recipe.

  4. My Mother's Day gift just arrived yesterday. I ordered it in mid/late April and I've been going round and round with the company for the past two weeks trying to find out the status. Ugh. It's a three month subscription box so I'm wondering if this month was an anomaly or if we'll go thru this two more times. I don't really have any plans for the weekend either... and I'm good with that. LOL I can't wait to see what you think of You Say It First!

  5. It sounds like you had a great week, Sam! And you read some fantastic-sounding books, too. I need to check out The Marriage Game, I haven't read it yet. And I loved The Boyfriend Project (possibly more than you;) )
Have a wonderful week ahead, stay safe and healthy.

  6. That book was so good, and it came after a few books that were sold as rom-coms and didn't pan out for me. I was utterly captivated by the book! I liked the Boyfriend Project. It was a solid read for me. I will absolutely continue the series.

  7. Happy Blogoversary! 7 years is such an impressive milestone. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the new Abbi Waxman book. I have that one coming up soon and am really looking forward to it. I just got a late approval for Again Again and hope I'll be able to squeeze that one in before its pub date. The Marriage Game sounds like fun so that one will definitely going on the TBR. Hope you have a great week!
