Five Star Friday: September 2020

On the first Friday of each month, I will share my five-star reads from the previous month. Fingers crossed, I have lots of books to tell you about.

People! September was another fantastic reading month! It ended a bit shaky, but I am still ecstatic about how it went in general. I read 38 books, 9 of which earned 5-stars. Not too shabby! 

One Old, One New: The Heather Smith Edition

One Old, One New features two books - one old, one new, which are connected in some way. Today, I am sharing two books by Heather Smith. These are set in different time periods, the 80s and 90s, but they are both beautifully explore themes of family, friendship, and belonging.

Highly Anticipating!

We are halfway through 2020. Can you believe it? With half the year behind us, it is time to think about our next batch of anticipated books. You all know I have an endless TBR, so I am going to focus on YA books, which I don't already have. Most of these are by authors I have grown to love, but a few are new-to-me, and I am very excited to get acquainted with their storytelling.

Looking Forward To in 2020!

It seems my 2020 TBR has grown since my post last week, where I shared the YA books I am looking forward to in 2020. This shelf does not only house YA book, there are also many adult books I am looking forward to, and today, I will share 10 of those picks with you. Many of these are from authors I have read and LOVED, a few are adult debuts by some of my favorite YA authors, while others are just books that sound perfect for me.

I remember seeing Gayle Forman on a panel, a few years ago, at BookCon, and she was talking about tropes and her love for them. I know I was nodding along with her, because I really don't think there are any bad tropes, and the success of the trope relies on how well the author executes it. Life's a Beach!

We recently celebrated (or mourned, in my case) the first day of summer, and when one thing I associate with summer is beach reads. Now, I am not a beach fan, but I love beach reads, or at least my idea of what a beach read should be. For me, they are books that lean towards the lighter side. They are generally fun and uplifting, and leave me with a smile on my face. Basically, I am describing the type of books I like to read all the time, but tend to be associated with those carefree summer days. The following are a list of YA books, some old, some new, which I plan to read this summer.

Why Can't I Be You!

Have you ever read a book, and wished that you could do a Freaky Friday thing with that character? Though I have yet to find a character with a perfect life, I have encountered quite a few with perks I would love to enjoy. These are all books I have read over the past year, which I really enjoyed, and found myself envying some aspect of the main character's life.
