Top Ten Tuesday: I Want to Go to There Vol 2

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

I Want to Go to There (volume 2)!

It's been said, that books take you places, and many of them make me want to climb right in, and join the characters on their journey. Last year, I featured these books, but it seems I read lots of books, that have me wanting to pack a bag and go to "there", even to some of the places I have previously visited. I felt like these authors really went out of their way to pull us into the story by providing rich descriptions of the setting, which left me wanting to experience these places.

Discussion: I LOVE Easter Eggs!

This Week’s Topic: Easter Eggs

Well, I love dying and hunting for eggs each spring, but I'm not talking about those Easter eggs. You know how Disney animators "hide" other Disney characters in their animated films, and you can actively hunt them? Those are the Easter eggs I am talking about, and I absolutely love when authors do that too.

Top Ten Tuesday: My Little Known Gems

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

My Little Known Gems!

This week we are looking at books I LOVED that have less than 2,000 ratings on Goodreads. I apparently read off the beaten path, because many of my favorites fall into this category, however, I will be focusing on those I read in 2018, which I have not previously featured on my hidden gems post. I also noticed that I picked those books that clocked in between 4.5 - 5 stars, AND were written by authors I keep returning to for more.

Discussion: Why I Didn't Feature You

I read A LOT of books, and I review each and every book I read or listen to, yet you will not find them all on the blog. So, I was wondering: Am I the only one who does this, and if not, why do other bloggers not feature books on their blogs?

This Week’s Topic: Why I Didn't Feature You

Senior Ariel Stone is the perfect college applicant: first chair violin, dedicated community volunteer, and expected valedictorian. He works hard - really hard - to make his life look effortless. A failed Calculus quiz is not part of that plan. Not when he’s number one. Not when his peers can smell weakness like a freshman’s body spray.

Figuring a few all-nighters will preserve his class rank, Ariel throws himself into studying. His friends will understand if he skips a few plans, and he can sleep when he graduates. Except Ariel’s grade continues to slide. Reluctantly, he gets a tutor. Amir and Ariel have never gotten along, but Amir excels in Calculus, and Ariel is out of options.

Ariel may not like Calc, but he might like Amir. Except adding a new relationship to his long list of commitments may just push him past his limit.

Perfectly Paired!

This week I am talking about those book couples I love. Those couples, who were perfect for each other, and I couldn't help shipping. As always, I took a look at my more recent adult romance reads, and decided upon the list below.

Blog Tour: To Night Owl From Dogfish

To Night Owl From Dogfish
Holly Goldberg Sloan, Meg Wolitzer
Genre: Middle Grades, Contemporary
Publisher: Dial Books
Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Goodreads
From two extraordinary authors comes a moving, exuberant, laugh-out-loud novel about friendship and family, told entirely in emails and letters.

Avery Bloom, who's bookish, intense, and afraid of many things, particularly deep water, lives in New York City. Bett Devlin, who's fearless, outgoing, and loves all animals as well as the ocean, lives in California. What they have in common is that they are both twelve years old, and are both being raised by single, gay dads.

When their dads fall in love, Bett and Avery are sent, against their will, to the same sleepaway camp. Their dads hope that they will find common ground and become friends--and possibly, one day, even sisters.

But things soon go off the rails for the girls (and for their dads too), and they find themselves on a summer adventure that neither of them could have predicted. Now that they can't imagine life without each other, will the two girls (who sometimes call themselves Night Owl and Dogfish) figure out a way to be a family?

Goodreads
Pretty Little Liars meets Ocean's 11 in this intrigue-filled contemporary drama from acclaimed author Kristen Simmons.

Welcome to Vale Hall, the school for aspiring con artists.

When Brynn Hilder is recruited to Vale, it seems like the elite academy is her chance to start over, away from her mom's loser boyfriend and her rundown neighborhood. But she soon learns that Vale chooses students not so much for their scholastic talent as for their extracurricular activities, such as her time spent conning rich North Shore kids out of their extravagant allowances.

At first, Brynn jumps at the chance to help the school in its mission to rid the city of corrupt officials--because what could be better than giving entitled jerks what they deserve? But that's before she meets her mark--a senator's son--and before she discovers the school's headmaster has secrets he'll stop at nothing to protect. As the lines between right and wrong blur, Brynn begins to realize she's in way over head.

Top Ten Tuesday: To Read or Not To Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

To Read or Not to Read!

Every year, when the new releases are announced, I start clicking that "to-read" button and my TBR grows exponentially. Fast forward, and now I am having second thoughts. I must admit, it is commonly early reviews that put me on the proverbial fence, and here are a few I am trying to decide,  if I should or shouldn't read. Most are ARCs I kept moving down my list, but two were releases I was really excited about. What are your thoughts?

Discussion: What's In a Name?

This Week’s Topic: What's In a Name?

Back when I debuted my One Old, One New feature, I reviewed two books with the same title, and I didn't think it was such a commonality. Fast forward, and we have an episode of "authors behaving badly", when one author accused Nora Roberts of trying to leverage the book's popularity to advance her new release.

And this got me thinking about - what's in a name? How did this same title phenomena occur? Well, let's take a look.
