Luck of the Irish!
Happy St. Patrick's Day! I do actually have Irish heritage as my mother's paternal grandparents were from Ireland (Cork, Donegal), and I had the opportunity to visit once (beautiful!), but I wouldn't say we get too into this holiday. My mother used to make corned beef and cabbage, some soda bread, but it has been a while. This week we were supposed to feature books with green covers in honor of the holiday, but I realized I have read quite a few books set in Ireland and thought it would be fun to feature some of those. Below are ten books I enjoyed that took me to the emerald isle.
- Foster by Claire Keegan
- Wedding Dashers by Heather McBreen
- The Other Side of Now by Paige Harbison
- Heart Strings by Ivy Fairbanks
- The Past by Sawyer Bennett
- Off the Map by Trish Doller
- One Night on the Island by Josie Silver
- Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern
- Last Call at the Local by Sarah Grunder Ruiz
- The Upside of Falling Down by Rebekah Crane
Have you ever been to Ireland?

Ireland is such a popular book setting! My husband is a good part Irish and he enjoys doing the traditional foods. I think we'll wait for the weekend, though.
ReplyDeleteYou have to share what you end up eating.
DeleteHappy St Patrick's Day.
ReplyDeleteSame to you, Mary!
DeleteLoved Off the Map and it's on my "Green Books" TTT today! I also enjoyed One Night on the Island. I enjoy the setting of Ireland, too. I'd like to visit someday!
ReplyDeleteIt was good one. I hope Doller has some new stories to tell. I miss her.

ReplyDeleteI didn't know - your family is a melting pot! 😀 Ireland must be a dream - no wonder there are so many books set there.
It is so lush and green. All that rain has great results. Yeah, I am a Euro mix - mostly German. I think because my father was from Germany and his parents were from Germany and Poland, I was exposed more to that culture.
DeleteI would love visiting Ireland!
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend. It's lovely!
DeleteI've been to the U.K. twice but have never hopped over to Ireland. One of these days! I also have Irish heritage that I would love to explore, although I've had no luck researching my Irish roots so far.
ReplyDeleteI did a similar topic for my list this week. I enjoy an Irish book setting.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
My mother was able to dig up a lot via the churches (we're Catholic). Her grandfather came over after the famine and could never go back because of the trauma of it.
