Welcome to the Time Hop Coffee Shop, where wishes can come true…
Greta Perks was once the shining star of the iconic Maple Gold coffee commercials, the quintessential TV wife and mom. Now fame has faded, her marriage is on the rocks, her teenage daughter has become distant and Greta’s once-glittering career feels like a distant memory.
When Greta stumbles upon a mysterious coffee shop serving a magical brew, she wishes for the perfect life in those past Maple Gold commercials. Next thing she knows, Greta wakes in the idyllic make-believe town of Mapleville, where the sun always shines and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and second chances fill the air. Given the opportunity to live the life she dreamed, Greta is determined to rewrite her own script. But can life ever be like a coffee commercial? And what will happen when Greta has to choose between perfection and real life, with no turning back?
Greta Perks and her family had once been in the spotlight as the faces of Maple Gold Coffee, but they had been replaced after a decade with a new, younger family. With her star fading and her marriage falling apart, Greta longs to return to the comfort of the Maple Gold days. When she stumbles upon a new coffee shop, a magical brew allows her to live this alternate life in Mapleville, but will the life of her dreams live up to her expectations?
This was a bit of a different book from Patrick. What-if books are always compelling and tend to cause some introspection for me. What makes a life perfect? What would be the life of my dreams? It was interesting to see the things Greta wished for as well as how those wishes played out. I have to admit, I was a little surprised with one of the choices Greta made, but I thought it was a good one.
Overall, I enjoyed taking this journey of self-discovery with Greta and was happy with how it played out. I really liked the one little twist and the overall messaging.

Romance is what Ferry Tales are made of...
Jac
It's been a not-so-great year. Divorce. Check. Living on Pennies. Check. All I need is a quiet summer back at my childhood home on Greensea Island--sitting on the deck with a glass of rosé, savoring one of Dad's legendary charcuterie boards, and catching up on all the Sherman Family news. But instead, I find myself in an unexpected conversation with a random British guy in my parents' kitchen who just casually mentioned he's rented their house for the summer. My carefully laid out plan has just hit a turbulent wave.
Johnny
She honestly doesn't know who I am. I can see it in her gigantic green eyes. I didn't get the oh-my-gosh-you're Johnny-Nickel eyes or the swoon here-are-my-underpants look. She's standing at the end of the kitchen counter, brown hair in one of those cattywampus buns, in an oversized white tee hanging off one shoulder and ripped jeans. Looking hella sexy even if she tried to stab me with a house key when I walked in. I just wonder how long I can keep my true identity hidden from her....
And now they're stuck together...for better or worse!
Love Songs and Ferry Tales is a hidden identity, forced proximity, closed door rom-com with a quirky small town and an anonymous gossip reporter. You won't want to miss it!
Both Jac and Johnny sought refuge on Greensea Island. Jac was still reeling from her divorce, and she needed somewhere to regroup and refill her bank account. What better place than home! Johnny needed a timeout from his rockstar life, a place to recharge. Johnny was so excited to meet Jac - a person who did not recognize him. It was liberating to just be "John", but secrets always come out.
This was a fun one. Jac and Johnny were very sweet together, and it was satisfying to see Jac meet a man who appreciated her after what her ex did. I have to admit, I adored the setting which sounded amazing, and I thought Jac's brothers were a great addition to the story. I loved meeting them and hope to get to know each of them better. The family dynamic was a good one, and the small town shenanigans were fun too.
Overall, I had a wonderful time visiting Greensea Island and watching Jac and Johnny fall in love.
