Sundays with Sam - The Sunday Post

Sundays with Sam is a combination of Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

My Week in Review

Happy Sunday and beware the Ides of March and all that. I will tell you, March has been wild so far. Wednesday, it was over 80, and the next day, we had a wintery mix. The weather seems to be back to normal right this second, but freezing temperatures are predicted for later this week. Layers are my friend.

I felt all out of sorts this week. I had to work from home and use flex time on Monday to take my dad to the oncologist. I could not get over how many people were there for treatments. Made me sad. On Tuesday, I took the train, and for some reason that is unknown to anyone, it stopped right outside my station stop for over a half hour. I made my bus, so I am not going to be too salty about it. I am glad the cutover bridge work is done and schedules will be back to normal. I wasn't crazy about the time change because I got home later.

On Wednesday, we found out they are moving us to a different floor in my building. We are at capacity, and they have been unable to hire new people for our location. This will give us space to grow. I will be back where I used to work, but now I have to figure out how long it will take me to get outside to the bus. I cannot miss it!

Thursday, I had off for some appointments. I went and got my second dose of the shingles vaccine. This time I had the arm pain, but I was running a little fever on Friday and was achy. I was not pleased. I was supposed to get my second laser treatment for my eyes, but I had to cancel. My dad was not well, and I had to take him to the doctor. I was happy they didn't charge me for the late cancelation.

Friday, I worked from home, and it was complete insanity. Friday the 13th really lived up to its name. Saturday, I got my hair done, and then just reading and blogging. My schedule was turned upside down and it really puts me off.

Did anyone notice an uptick in spam? I am getting like 50 emails a day in my spam folder, and they are all garbage. Someone is going hard on trying to trick me into something. I never used to get that much.

Stacking the Shelves

I got a LOT of invites this week. I downloaded Die For Me. My daughter wants to read and review it. You can look forward to a post from her. I am probably going to download the Moore and Miller books. I have read and enjoyed their work in the past, and the books sound good to me. I have enjoyed a few books from Scotch, but this is a mystery-thriller which is not really something I read. I saw the Higgins book as "read now", and I could not resist. I love her books. Bickers new book looked good to me too, so I downloaded that. I am doing well with my ARCs and am already reading May releases, so why not?

I nabbed two freebies from Amazon. One is set in a hard state to check off in my reading the challenge. The other is about a farmer's wife, and I have thing for stories set on farms.

Read Last Week

My week started and ended with my highest rated books. After finishing Heart the Lover, I was eager to dive into Writers & Lovers. If you know, you know is all I will say here. I am, again, surprised how much I enjoyed the book. I saw people complaining about the ending being kind of happy/hopeful. I really cannot believe this disappoints people. This woman was put through the wringer. I was thrilled that things were looking up at the end. Maybe it's me?

I also loved Atlas. It started with his best friends on hospice with lung cancer. That was too close to home, so I was a snotty mess. Then he died. Cue tears, but the story was a lot happier after that. The ending felt a bit rushed, but my final impression was a good one.
