Outside My Comfort Zone!
Happy Tuesday! Today we are talking about going outside our reading comfort zone. I must admit, I really don't like to do this because time is so precious to me. I hate to waste it on books that could be total stinkers. I wouldn't say these books were 100% outside my zone, but they did have some element that I normally would avoid because those types of books do not typically work for me.
The books below had the following elements that I struggle with, but the authors did a great job and posed no issue to me in these instances.
- Historical fiction
- Dark subject matter
- Political storyline
- Literary fiction
- Middle grades (not an age group I read much of)
- Heavy subject matter
- A LOT of drama
- The Library of Lost Dollhouses by Elise Hooper
- Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer
- The Summer We Ran by Audrey Ingram
- Zorrie by Laird Hunt
- Finding Dorothy by Elizabeth Letts
- Half a Chance by Cynthia Lord
- The Bright Years by Sarah Damoff
- A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote
- The Favorites by Layne Fargo
- Life Hacks for a Little Alien by Alice Franklin

I feel like there's not much outside my comfort zone? I'll read almost anything, if it sounds interesting! The Favorites is one I want to get to soon.
ReplyDeleteThat book was compulsively readable. High drama with a great format. I hope you get a chance to check it out.
DeleteThe favorites certainly had a lot of drama!
ReplyDeleteThat's an understatement - LOL!
