Can't Wait Wednesday!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

This week I can't wait for

The Time Hop Coffee Shop

Welcome to the Time Hop Coffee Shop, where wishes can come true…

Greta Perks was once the shining star of the iconic Maple Gold coffee commercials, the quintessential TV wife and mum. Now, fame has faded, her marriage is unraveling, her teenage daughter is distant and Greta’s once-glittering career feels like a long-lost memory.

When Greta stumbles upon a mysterious coffee shop, serving a brew like no other, she wishes for the perfect life of those past Maple Gold commercials. Next thing she knows, Greta wakes in the picture-perfect town of Mapleville, where the sun always shines, and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and second chances fill the air. Given the opportunity to step into the life she’s dreamed of, Greta is determined to rewrite her own script. But can life ever be like a coffee commercial? And what will happen when Greta has to choose—between perfection and real life, with no turning back?

I am HUGE fan of Patrick's books. I have no idea how this one slipped by me, but it's high on my TBR now. This book seems to feature a "mature" character which is nice for me (as I am also a "mature" character), and it also has a magical touch. I love when a bit of magic is thrown into a story. It's a fun concept to have the character live the fictional life of the person she played in coffee commercials. I am interested in seeing how this all comes together.

A Kilt for Christmas
 by Tricia O'Malley
Published by Lovewrite Publishing on November 17, 2023
Age/Genres: Adult, Fiction, Romance

Legend has it that wishes made at the standing stones during Christmas come true.

As if. Maisie Barron is over it. A small-town girl with big dreams, her frustrations lead her to make a silly wish at the standing stones outside Loren Brae. Little does she know, the magick found there will transform her wish into a catastrophic event that threatens the upcoming Christmas Book Festival. Weston Smith needs a break. Burnt out from his tenure-track professorship, he decides that a holiday in little Loren Brae, Scotland, will be the perfect escape he needs to recharge his batteries. The last thing he expects is to find the woman he’s been waiting his whole life for. With the over-zealous help of a gaggle of elderly book club members, West finds himself on a real-life mission to woo the woman of his dreams. There’s more than magic at play when sparks ignite. Snowed in, with an undeniable attraction brewing, only West and Maisie can save Loren Brae from the snowstorm of the century.

Author’s note: a handsome American takes on a lonely Scotswoman in this stand-alone, small-town, Scottish romance. Wicked banter, a highland ghost coo, and dogs dressed in kilts make this magical Christmas story the perfect happily-ever-after.

I was so enchanted by O'Malley's Love's a Witch, I wanted to read more of her books. I thought I would stick with her Scottish paranormal stories and how could I go wrong with a holiday romance? I am pretty sure this one will put a smile on my face.
