Sloth's Choice Awards - Favorite Fiction of 2023

It's time to celebrate my year in books. I will be spreading my favorites throughout a bunch of categories, but these are all favorites. For more of my favorites, check out my Five Star Friday posts. Today I will be sharing.....

Favorite Fiction!

I pretty much only read fiction, but I wanted to separate romance from other types of fiction. I didn't feel I read enough non-contemporary books to separate out SFF books, and then there is women's fiction, so I am putting them all together here. These books were ones that made me happy or left me with a lot to ponder. They were filled with great characters and made me feel so much. They have stayed with me for whatever reason, and that's why they are favorites.

  1. The Good Part by Sophie Cousens
  2. Love, Holly by Emily Stone
  3. At the Coffee Shop of Curiosities by Heather Webber
  4. The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren
  5. Happy Place by Emily Henry

  1. On Fire Island by Jane L. Rosen
  2. Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q. Sutanto
  3. The Mostly True Story of Tanner & Louise by Colleen Oakley
  4. The Love Wager by Lynn Painter
  5. Once More with Feeling by Elissa Sussman

  2. Love your picks there and that you separate this from romance. I do think Romance is their own category from other fiction lol I am thinking though of next year for my choice awards to put in women's fiction as its definitely growing in popularity.

    1. A few books I would consider romance did make this list, but I wanted to give myself more slots for romance books. HA! I know that I personally read a lot of "women's" fiction these days. Many tend to have strong romantic subplots which satisfy the romance reader in me while chronicling the character's personal journey in the spotlight.
