Can't Wait Wednesday!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

This week I can't wait for:
Only Love Can Break Your Heart
Katherine Webber
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Publisher: Scholastic Press
Release Date: January 7, 2020
Goodreads
A grieving girl. An unexpected boy. A perfect love story . . . until it isn't perfect at all. Sometimes a broken heart is all you need to set you free...

Reiko loves the endless sky and electric colors of the Californian desert. It is a refuge from an increasingly claustrophobic life of family pressures and her own secrets. Then she meets Seth, a boy who shares a love of the desert and her yearning for a different kind of life. But Reiko and Seth both want something the other can't give them. As summer ends, things begin to fall apart. But the end of love can sometimes be the beginning of you...
Why I want to read this book

I was a fan of Webber's debut, The Heartbeats of Wing Jones, and was excited to by the description of her upcoming release.  I think you all know about my penchant for grief and loss books, but this one goes and adds in a romance, and just makes this title more and more appealing to me. Though part of the synopsis makes me believe this love will be lost, I still think the healing journey will be a good one for me.

I'll Meet You There
Heather Demetrios
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Publisher: Henry Holt
Release Date: February 3, 2015
Goodreads
If Skylar Evans were a typical Creek View girl, her future would involve a double-wide trailer, a baby on her hip, and the graveyard shift at Taco Bell. But after graduation, the only thing separating Skylar from art school is three months of summer…until Skylar’s mother loses her job, and Skylar realizes her dreams may be slipping out of reach.

Josh had a different escape route: the Marines. But after losing his leg in Afghanistan, he returns home, a shell of the cocksure boy he used to be.

What brings Skylar and Josh together is working at the Paradise—a quirky motel off California’s Highway 99. Despite their differences, their shared isolation turns into an unexpected friendship and, soon, something deeper.

Compelling and ultimately hopeful, this is a powerful examination of love, loss, and resilience.
Why I want to read this book

This is a book I added to my TBR back in 2017, because I kept seeing it on a multitude of Top Ten Tuesday books. The book summary makes this sound like something I would enjoy, and at first, the only obstacle, was that I did not own the book. So, I picked it as my book of choice, when I won a giveaway, and yet, I still hadn't read it. Well, now I have a double mission. First and foremost, this will be one of my #ReadForGrace books, as it was listed on her favorites shelf, and secondly, I am using this for a reading challenge, reading a book suggested by a friend, and many of you, including Tanya and Shannon, have told me to read this. I feel reading this will leave me with a great sense of accomplishment.

What are you waiting on?
