Can't-Wait Wednesday!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

This week I can't wait for:
The Map From Here to There
Emery Lord
Series: The Start of Me and You, #2
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Publisher: Bloomsbury
Release Date: January 7, 2020
Goodreads
Acclaimed author Emery Lord crafts a gorgeous story of friendship and identity, daring to ask: What happens after happily ever after?

It's senior year, and Paige Hancock is finally living her best life. She has a fun summer job, great friends, and a super charming boyfriend who totally gets her. But senior year also means big decisions. Weighing "the rest of her life," Paige feels her anxiety begin to pervade every decision she makes. Everything is exactly how she always wanted it to be--how can she leave it all behind next year? In her head, she knows there is so much more to experience after high school. But in her heart, is it so terrible to want everything to stay the same forever?

Emery Lord's award-winning storytelling shines with lovable characters and heartfelt exploration of life's most important questions.
Why I want to read this book

I recently read The Start of Me and You, and I can saw, with 100% confidence, that I want nothing more than to continue Paige's story. The ending was sort of just the beginning of something wonderful, and I feel like, if I didn't know this book was coming soon, I may have been a little disappointed. BUT, Emery Lord did a wonderful thing, and she continued this story for us, and I have nothing but gratitude in my heart for her.

The Truth About Happily Ever After
Karole Cozzo
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Publisher: Swoon Reads
Release Date: May 15, 2018
Goodreads
Chin up, Princess, or the crown will slip.

A theme park princess must put her life back together after her happily ever after falls apart in The Truth About Happily Ever After, a contemporary YA romance from Karole Cozzo, author of How to Keep Rolling After a Fall and How to Say I Love You Out Loud.

Everything was supposed to be perfect. Alyssa has a job she loves, working as Cinderella at her favorite theme park; a fantastic group of friends; and a boyfriend who will no longer be long distance. But as the summer progresses, her prince becomes less charming and more distant, and Alyssa's perfect summer falls apart.

Forced to acknowledge that life is not always a fairy tale, Alyssa starts working to pull her herself back together. Fortunately, she doesn't have to do it alone. With her friend Miller's support, she's determined to prove that she's more than just a pretty princess. And with his help, maybe she's finally ready for something better than dreams. Maybe she's ready for something real.
Why I want to read this book

I have had the pleasure of reading all Cozzo's other books, and let me just show you how I felt about her books:

  1. How to Say I Love You Out Loud
  2. How to Keep Rolling After a Fall★ 1/2
  3. The Game Won't Love You Back★ 1/2
You can see, that I have greatly enjoyed Cozzo's other books, and I believe this one will be a hit for me as well. We have heartbreak, healing, and a theme park princess. Sounds like a winning combination to me.

What are you waiting on?

  1. I can relate to Paige wanting things to say the same -- and that right there makes me want to read it.

    1. It's something I have grown to expect from a YA book set in the character's final year of high school. Lots of changes coming their way, and it always interests me to see how the author has the character handle those changes.

  2. I'm looking forward to Emery Lord's book too. It feels like it's been a while since she's released anything new right??

    1. Oddly enough, Lord's last book was the first one I read, back in 2017 (even though I owned the others). I am glad she chose to revisit this world, because I really want to see what happened after with these two.

    1. I am enjoying Cozzo's book right now, and I am trying to resist starting the Lord book, because I still have some Nov releases to read. It's hard though after FINALLY reading The Start of Me and You. I am eager to continue the story

    1. She is definitely on my list with Jennifer E Smith, Sarah Dessen, Emma Mills, Kasie West -- my YA auto-reads. There is just something about the characters and the worlds they create that never fail to delight me.

    1. I am mad that I waited so long to read Me and You, since I bought it back when, but glad, in a way, since I feel really ready for the sequel.

    1. My first Lord book was her last release, back in 2017, though, I owned her other books at that time. Yeah, that's me, but now I am all caught up, and each book was a winner for me.

  13. Both of these sound good! I love it when an author continues a story that you loved. Many times the couple get their happily ever after and I want to know more, but than the story ends; so I can see why you're so excited to read,The Map from Here to There!

    1. There are very few authors, who I have lost interest in, though there are a few. Lord and Cozzo are still auto-reads for me, and Cozzo's last book was especially great

  14. I have The Start of Me and You, but haven't read it yet. I went ahead and added the second book to my TBR and The Truth About Happily Ever After. I love that first line of the synopsis. Great choices, Sam!

    1. Me and You was the first Lord book I bought, but the last I read. *shrugs* Timing is good though, since the new book is finally being released.

  15. It's fun to examine your TBR and find books that you planned on reading and then put off or forgot and then pick them up and discover a gem. I need to look at my TBR. Hope all these are stellar reads, Sam! :)

    1. I was looking through my Amazon cloud last week, and I didn't even realize I owned some books. *hangs head in shame* I am glad I started doing Carole's meme, because it is forcing me to face those unread books.

  16. I haven't read a single Emery Lord book yet but I do have two anthologies of where she's one of the contributing authors in my TBR. I had my eyes on Open Road Summer though.

  19. Even though I've not read The Start of Me And You I am excited for The Map From Here to There mostly because I hope it'll help motivate me to read the first book. I'd not really heard of The Truth About Happily Ever After but it sounds fun I hope you enjoy it.

    1. You have to read the first book! It follows Paige's recovery and her budding romance. I am hoping Lord gives me a full on romance with the second book, AND that she doesn't sink my ship, because I love that pairing.

    1. The cover fits the story setting well, and I adored the setting too. Cozzo created a fun Disney-like park and even gave some really detailed descriptions.
