My Week in Review
Happy Sunday! If you are in the path of Fern, I hope you are safe and warm. We are still waiting for the storm to arrive by me, but the outlook is for quite a bit of snow. I hate winter. I know I am lucky that I can work from home if necessary, but I am not a fan of switching up my in-office days. I had to do that last week because of the holiday. The traffic driving on Tuesday is NOT the same as Mondays. It took me so long to get home compared to the previous two Mondays. --sigh--
As I said, we had a holiday on Monday. I got a haircut and saw the ophthalmologist to schedule my IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy. I will have to switch my in-office days for that too. It's four treatments, and the doctor only does them on Thursdays. Fingers crossed it's money well spent and actually gives me some relief.
Other than that, work, rinse, repeat. We had a nice warm day on Thursday which surprised me. The previous day had been 4°F, so I was bundled up when I left for the train station, but ended up leaving some outerwear in the car. I mean, it felt so warm (36°F). I was happy about it.

This was a good week for invites. I received a few for books that were on my TBR which made me happy. I will definitely be downloading Big Stick Energy (I love Bowen), and leaning yes on Destination Funeral, Fossil Feud, and Rewrite the Stars. Hot Chocolate was an auto-approval I had my eye on which I am reading this week.

Read Last Week
This was a good reading week. No Place Like You lived up to my expectations. It was warm and fun and wonderful. Loved it! I also really loved Rookie Season. I have enjoyed Brunner's DC Eagles series, and I was excited that this book aged up a character from that series. I love this trend. In the opening author note, they say this book is New Adult, but it wasn't set in college or all about sex. I KNOW! I am falling into THAT view of New Adult, but you know. It was very good, and I cannot wait for the next book.

I hope you get some warmer days in the week ahead, Sam! Hot Chocolate on Thursday sounds like a great read and I'm looking forward to your thoughts on that. Might have to chuck it on the TBR! Have a great week ahead :)
ReplyDeleteHot Chocolate is giving off Before the Coffee Gets Cold vibes, so I am hopeful.
DeleteI really hope that you will stay safe and warm Sam! These temperatures are so low!
ReplyDeleteIt started snowing a little before 5 am. It's all blowing around out there. I have no plans to go out there.
DeleteThankfully our schools and work have already announced their closures. Be safe!!
ReplyDeleteMy work doesn't close, we work from home on our laptops, but it counts as my work from home day which makes me salty. It's a state of emergency, it shouldn't be held against me.
DeleteHope the storm doesn't mess with your commute and routine, Sam! Not sure what IPL is but I hope it goes well. Stay warm and safe!
ReplyDeleteThere will be no commute tomorrow as it is still storming out there. We got quite a bit of snow. IPL is a treatment to help with dry eye. They use a laser to make pores in my eye to try and hold moisture. It has good results, so I hope to be part of that positive statistic.
DeleteI hope you don't get hit too hard, Sam. Is the eye treatment for migraines? Whatever it's for, I hope it gives you some relief. It looks like you read some good books last week. I hope your upcoming books are winners for you. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteIt's a treatment for dry eye. I have been in treatment for severe dry eye for over 20 years. My eyes hurt and I have a lot of double vision (one of the reasons I don't like to drive). I did a different procedure about 10 years ago, but it didn't help. Gonna try this one. The weather is terrible, but at least I have the option to work from home and we still have power.
DeleteHope you're not too buried over there, Sam! It stinks changing around your schedule but it's nice to be able to work at home when you need to!
ReplyDeleteIt was such a struggle clearing off the three cars this morning. The wind plus the plow piles had the snow knee deep around my car.
DeleteI hope the treatments do bring on some relief.
ReplyDeleteI hope too because they are very expensive and not covered by insurance.
