My Week in Review
Happy Sunday! I am glad to report that I am writing this from Chicago. Not only did my flight get me here, but I got here with no issues. What a relief! I was actually so stressed out, I was having tummy troubles before my flight. NJ Transit did go on strike, so I had to ask my mom to get up early to drive me. Now that NJT is on strike, I would appreciate it if they can wait to settle things until next week. I am not getting home until Tuesday evening with the expectation that I have to do the remainder of the week in office should the trains be running. My company is allowing me to work from home during the strike, and well, that would work well for me this week....just saying.
When my daughter was an undergraduate, she lived across the street from the Dome. Things were always really crazy on game day, and they would close the streets near her dorm to vehicular traffic. The problem was that my daughter NEVER told me. That streak continues. I got here Saturday and ending up in all the game day chaos. Not only were the Cubs playing, but they were playing the Sox. I have never been here on game day. I could hear the roar of the crowd with every hit. I heard "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" too. Not sure what they were singing towards the end of the game, but yep, I head that as well. It was almost like being there. I did have plans to get some Cane's but didn't want to be near Wrigley when the game was getting out. Maybe I will get some today.

Read Last Week
It was a good reading week. I have been seeing mixed reviews for the EmHen, and I have to admit, I wasn't sure about it myself. I didn't quite understand that second timeline UNTIL I DID! It was a great twist, and that last past of the book was phenomenal for me. I adored the couple and wanted them on page together all the time, but once I understood the big picture, I could admit I liked Margaret's story too.
I have four books that were so close to perfection for me, but I think Wild and Wrangled was my favorite. I am going to miss that series. The ranch and that family have stolen a piece of my heart, and it was a pleasure getting to know them all.

Guess what I found on audio on Hoopla? That book I won in a Goodreads giveaway and thought my account was hacked and returned it. I am finally getting to read Sideline Confidential! It's good, and Julia Whelan is narrating which is always great. So far, it's a very serious story focusing on the mistreatment of female reporters in the NFL.
- The Slowest Burn by Sarah Chamberlain
- Sideline Confidential by Brooke Bentley

- Passion Project by London Sperry
- The Bright Years by Sarah Damoff

ReplyDeleteI hope they oblige LOL.
The bird selfie thing made me cry-laugh. I needed that. If it didn't have three "legs", it would be perfect! 🤣
I saw that NJT is meeting with the union today and hoping to bang out an agreement. I will get nothing!
DeleteI'm so glad you made it to Chicago. I hope the transit strike works in your favor too!
ReplyDeleteI just got an email that service will resume Tuesday. So, boo! I have to be in the office Wed - Fri.
DeleteI'm glad you were able to get there. That bird was funny. lol
ReplyDeleteThat bird thing is hilarious
DeleteYay for a hassle free flight! Hope you enjoy your time in Chicago with your daughter! Crossing my fingers that the strike continues on through next week!
ReplyDeleteStrike is over. Trains will be up and running on Tuesday.
DeleteI have Henry's on audio and I saw the mixed reviews too but I'm going for it because I've been reading way outside my normal taste and I think I'll be ok.
ReplyDeleteI want to read the Lyla Sage one too.
I've been seeing your Chicago pics and it looks like a fabulous time with great food!
People have expectations from certain authors and when they do something a little different, there are people that will like it and others that will hate it. I think Julian Whelan is narrating, so that will great. I hope you like it!
DeleteSo happy for you that you got to go visit your daughter, yay! And that your flight was problem free, double yay! Have the most amazing time ever!!! I feel like since January 2nd I am just barely treading to stay afloat lol. With two kids in club sports year round and a lot of travel that goes along with it I'm here but it's been a lot. We shockingly have one free day this month, the 26th, and I am most definitely counting down to it!
ReplyDeleteI remember the days of the kid's activities. It can be all consuming and you have two. Hang in there.
