My Week in Review
Happy Sunday and Welcome, May! I hope everyone is doing well today. It's been another wash-rinse-repeat week for me. I hate this time of year when I have no idea what to do with my outerwear. It's been high 40s/low 50s when I leave for work but 80s in the afternoon. I hate being stuck lugging my coat around in the afternoon, but one day I was so cold. Gotta suck it up.
I have a day off this week to take care of some appointments. I hope I can catch up on things. I feel like I am using my time poorly or something because I am still behind on a whole bunch of stuff. I need a plan, and I need to stick to it.

Stacking the Shelves
I got a lot of invites this week. I am leaning towards downloading Hopelessly Teavoted. It sounds cute and has a release date later in the year when I have openings. I am also considering the new Beth Morrey book. Though this sounds different from her previous books, I do enjoy her stories. Maggie is actually on my TBR, but I am struggling a bit with cancer books right now. Watching my dad deal with this new chemo has been tough. I feel terrible for him. I feel like that's why I had a hard time with the last Bookstore Sisters book. It was too much like real life for me. I have to find out how it's dealt with in Maggie, but I do hope to read it one of these days.

Read Last Week
It was an excellent reading week. My top reads were from author who have often earned high ratings from me. It was such a pleasure to be back in Vera's world. I loved seeing her "family" grow while catching up with those from the previous book. I hope Sutanto has more Vera stories for us.
I also LOVED the new Monaghan book. Her books always make me smile till my face hurts, and that is exactly what happened with It's a Love Story. Great characters and a charming setting coupled with lots of warmth and humor made this a hit for me.

"I hate this time of year when I have no idea what to do with my outerwear."
ReplyDeleteOh, same. I never take off my jacket before it's straight-up summer because I'm afraid to catch something, but I never know which type to wear (warm-ish, light, lighter? I have every kind of jackets LOL).
"I am struggling a bit with cancer books right now. Watching my dad deal with this new chemo has been tough."
I'm sorry to hear that. I hope he'll start to adjust to it eventually, or will be able to catch a breath.
I have four different jackets and coats of various weights hanging on my door hook, but I stress every morning over which I should be wearing when I leave for work. This week looks stable, weather-wise, 50s in the morning, 60s and 70s in the afternoon, I am happy about that.
DeleteI feel you on the time management. I always feel behind or like I'm forgetting something. Its the story of my life. Hopefully you can enjoy some books this week!
ReplyDeleteReading is a daily thing for me since I read on my commute. I hit my goal every week. It's the other stuff I fall behind on.
DeleteIt's cold here in the mornings too and then warms up, so I don't like to leave my coat behind either. We'll be close to 80s this next week too! Can't believe it! I loved Vera and I do think she'll write more books. It seemed like Vera might be traveling to Paris if I remembered correctly.
ReplyDeleteOMG! Vera in Paris would be a hoot! I am excited.
DeleteI am very hot blooded, so have not put on my winter coat since I got home. Everyone is always asking me if I'm cold, but I'm not. I have been really bad about blog hopping for the last few weeks. I read, review, relax. I hope to catch up on a lot of that this week. So sorry to hear that your dad is having a tough time with his chemo. I know how it feels to be the caregiver or family support and not be able to do anything. I hope this is a good week of reading, and getting whatever you need to do finished. You did well with not accepting all those invites. I love that insta post. I go out on google and there's a website that will pronounce the names for me when I need them to. I missed two of the ones in that post.
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to be able to withstand the cold. I hate being too cold or too hot. When I read more fantasy, I was always hitting up pronunciation sites. I am impressed you only missed two of those names. That last one, never seen it before. All my Irish relatives (even the ones born in Ireland) didn't have names like that. My great grandfather was Michael and great grandma was Mary.
DeleteI had never seen that last one either. I read a lot of books set in Ireland, so most of them were familiar.
DeleteTotally agree about the weather, it's tough! I can empathize with always being behind on things. I always thought I was good at time management, but it doesn't seem like it lately.
ReplyDeleteI just seem to be checking out a bit lately. Gotta get on track again!
DeleteI feel like I'm finally getting into a routine with my new job, so that's been allowing me to do more of the things I enjoy outside of work. I baked a loaf of sourdough, have been exercising more regularly, and even spent some time playing piano this week.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome that you are able to fit so many fun and interesting things in.
DeleteIm sorry your dad is having a hard time of it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary.
DeleteI don't know what to do with my outerwear either Sam! Last week we had 28° celsius and this week 3° !!!!!
ReplyDeleteCrazy! I always thought the weather was more evened out by now, but maybe I am remembering wrong. At least the lows aren't too low, and the most afternoons have been pretty nice. Better than winter!
DeleteI can relate to the outerwear problem. I end up dragging my coat around all day because it's freezing in the morning and hot in the afternoon. The coat becomes another thing that I need to keep track of during the day. I hope you enjoy Olive Kitteridge! That book was assigned reading in grad school. I liked it.
ReplyDeleteYou get crazy weather. I read your review for Olive. I agreed with a lot of it, but man, that is sad book. I was a little hopeful for Olive at the end.
