Perfect Pets!
Happy Tuesday! I love today's topic. I always had a pet growing up, and though I don't have one now, I appreciate the joy they bring to our lives. When I saw that the topic was animal companions, I couldn't help but think of authors who never fail to feature wonderful pets in their stories. I immediately thought of Jill Shalvis and Abby Jimenez, but I know there are many more. Below are ten perfect pets I recently met who made their books even better.
- Six Thirty from Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus - A dog with a great name.
- Bubbles from Puppy Love by Lucy Gilmore - A sweet dog who could detect high and low sugar levels in a diabetic.
- Nana from The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa - A street cat who accompanied a man on his final journey.
- Sebastian from Last Call at the Local by Sarah Grunder Ruiz - A pub cat who was a scene stealer.
- Smudge from Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert - This kitty was the start of it all.
- Waylon from Swift and Saddled by Lyla Sage - One very loyal dog.
- Dammit Ziggy from The Bright Spot by Jill Shalvis - This goat was chaotic and charming and I loved him.
- Kevin Bacon from Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez - He's a famous pig for a reason.
- Hank from Georgie, All Along by Jill Clayborn - A sweetheart of a dog who showed his owners softer side.
- Ulysses from The Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morganthaler - Ulysses the moose was a bit a troublemaker throughout this series, but also, a well-loved local. *Graham's dog was also precious with all his snazzy clothes.

I'm not a huge animal person, but I do enjoy the way Jimenez incorporates animals into her books.
ReplyDeleteShe definitely adores her furry friends.
DeleteA goat? and a pig called Kevin Bacon? LOL.
ReplyDeleteKevin Bacon was fantastic! He deserved all the attention he garnered.
DeleteI always like seeing pets in the books I read. Sometimes in the paranormal reads I will find some alien pets and those are so fun.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine the author can get a bit creative with alien pets. I always like when familiars are included in paranormals.
DeleteHow did I forget Six Thirty????
ReplyDeleteSuch a great dog
DeleteI have read a few of these and remember them fondly, especially "Dammit Ziggy" and "Ulysses"
ReplyDeleteZiggy was too much!
DeleteBubbles sounds wonderful! I'm a Type 1 diabetic and a blood sugar-sniffing dog would definitely come in handy for someone like me.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
Bubbles was so cute and quite the hero in that book. The man was so put off by the little, fluffy dog but learned what a boss Bubbles was.
DeleteI love the way Jill Shalvis incorporates animals in her books! They add so much!
ReplyDeleteNever fails to highlight a furry friend.
