Oldest Books on My TBR!
Happy Tuesday! This topic ended up being harder than I thought! Part of that is because I lack discipline when it comes to my TBR. I have lists out of Netgalley and Edelweiss, each of the eLibraries for which I have a card, Hoopla, Amazon, and finally, Goodreads. I tend to cull the lists where I don't have the books, but keep the library lists since I have access to the book.
With all that out of the way, I went through my library wishlists and picked the ten oldest books that I still have interest in. What you will find is that a lot of these are older books (I included the publication date) but many are from fairly popular authors. Most of these are authors I have read before, but a few are new-to-me. Maybe this will be the year I read them. Who knows!
*Update - So, I read the prompt wrong, but these are still some older books.
- Score by Victoria Denault - 2017
- Anyone But You by Jennifer Cruise - 1996
- Home Front by Kristin Hannah - 2012
- Thanksgiving by Janet Evanovich - 1988
- All Fall Down by Jennifer Weiner - 2014
- Astonish Me by Maggie Shipstead - 2014
- Dear Committee Members by Julie Schumacher - 2014
- Us by David Nicolls - 2014
- I Liked My Life by Abby Fabiaschi - 2017

Like you, I've read some of these authors but not any of these particular books.
ReplyDeleteI think they are fairly popular. I am glad they still seem to appeal to me.
DeleteThe only one I've read from this list is Home Front. Kristin Hannah's books are generally great reads!
ReplyDeleteI know her books are wildly popular. I think I added it after reading The Nightingale. Didn't they adapt Home Front?
DeleteI'm not sure!
DeleteMy list would mostly be made up of classics I've never gotten around to reading. That said, my Goodreads TBR still has some of the "it books" from when I joined many years ago.
ReplyDeleteSo many lists today are populated with classics. Not sure how many of these were "it" books because when I add from the library, it's based on the synopsis/author alone. I guess they must have some popularity if the library is purchasing though.
DeleteHomefront was so, so good. KH also writes such powerful stories, and that one focusing on a woman injured in combat really got to me.
ReplyDeleteI have only read The Nightingale but that was a gut punch for sure. I look forward to exploring more of her work.
DeleteI totally did the books on my TBR that were on there the longest! I read the prompt wrong too but oh well. haha. I like it better this way because everyone has had classics on theirs!
ReplyDelete*High Five* Glad to see I am not alone. I think every list I saw today was almost all classics. There are none on my TBR.
DeleteThese are all new books to me.
ReplyDeleteOldies but goodies
DeleteI think the Outlander series is the oldest set of books on my TBR. I'm about halfway through the series, but they're bricks so they're going to be there for a while.
ReplyDeleteLook at you! I tried reading Outlander. The dialect made me nuts.
DeleteIt's neat that you have a 1988 book and a 1996 one on this list. Showing backlist some love 👍.
ReplyDeleteThat's because I did the assignment wrong. HA!
DeleteI read the last book in the Denault series and enjoyed it. I almost did this TTT, but then I didn't end up having the time. Maybe I'll do it as a freebie. :)
ReplyDeleteI actually read the last THREE books in that Denault series. I had a problem with this ARC. It never sent to my kindle, so I bought the book, but have yet to read it.
DeleteThat's when I am reminded that I used to read Janet Evanovich books!
ReplyDeleteI have never read one, but my Aunt Helen loves them and always told me to read them.
DeleteI think the only one I have read is Thanksgiving, but I have some of the others on my TBR. I hope you get to read these books, as I agree, they are all authors I have read and enjoyed.
