Charmed meets The Pumpkin Spice CafĂ© in this cozy romantasy from New York Times bestselling author Tricia O’Malley.
She’s hexed. He’s vexed. And for Scotland’s most magical small-town, their feud might just spell disaster.
Sloane MacGregor swore she’d never return to Briarhaven, but with her twenty-fifth birthday looming—the day witches come into their magic—her grandmother summons her and her sisters back for one tiny task: break the centuries-old curse haunting their bloodline.
Knox Douglas, Briarhaven’s grumpy mayor, has worked tirelessly to make his town a haven for magical folk. The last thing he needs is a cursed MacGregor wreaking havoc. It doesn’t matter he once crushed on her. For the sake of Briarhaven, Sloane has to go.
But magic has other plans—and in Briarhaven, love really is a witch.
This book had so many elements I adore.
- sisterly love
- witches
- family bonding
- childhood crush turning to more
- animal antics
- history and lore
I was crossing my fingers and toes as I hoped the MacGregor's could break the curse that had plagued their family for generations. The many magical mishaps were comedic, but also, caused a lot of problems for the family and the town. It was good to have the mayor on their side because Knox was such a fantastic hero. His tenderness and patience was a thing of beauty. I was totally under his spell, and I was eager for Sloan to take a chance on him. I really enjoyed my visit to this world and am eager to return for the other MacGregor sisters' stories.

Priscilla has a plan. And falling for Oliver was not on her to-do list...
The Job
Event planner Priscilla Cain has been asked to plan her best friend Tina’s dream wedding proposal to her boyfriend, Ryan.
The Catch
It looks like groom-to-be Ryan might just beat her to it.
The Solution
Team up with Ryan’s obnoxious, but gorgeous, best friend Oliver to plan a joint proposal. But keep their unlikely alliance a secret from both their friends.
But as Oliver and Priscilla work together to pull off the proposal of the year, could there be more than one happily ever after on the cards…
Priscilla's best friend wanted to surprise propose to her boyfriend Ryan in a most over the top way, and Priscilla was ready to accept this challenge. The only problem was that Ryan also wanted to surprise propose to Tina in an over the top way, and HE enlisted his best friend Oliver to coordinate the effort. Priscilla had no choice but to join forces with her nemesis Oliver in order to pull this off. And let's just say the entire operation exceeded her expectations.
As a huge fan of Hate Mail, I was eager to read Marchetti's latest effort. She writes hate-to-love so well, and once again, I was not disappointed.
It was so much fun watching Priscilla and Oliver call a truce in order to organize their best friends' dual proposal while also finally acknowledging their feelings for one another. I laughed often and loudly throughout all their shenanigans. It was also a pleasure getting beneath the surface of Priscilla and Oliver as they softened towards each other and revealed hidden parts of themselves.
Once again, Marchetti leaned into many rom-com tropes with great results. Another winner for me.
