Can't Wait Wednesday!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

This week I can't wait for:
10 Truths and a Dare

Ashley Elston
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary
Publisher: Disney-Hyperion
Release Date: May 4, 2021
Goodreads
It's Senior Week, that magical in-between time after classes have ended but before graduation, chock-full of gimmicky theme parties, last-minute bonding, and family traditions. Olivia couldn't be more ready. Class salutatorian and confident in her future at LSU, she's poised to sail through to the next phase of her life.

But when the tiny hiccup of an unsigned off-campus P.E. form puts Olivia in danger of not graduating at all, she has one week to set things straight without tipping off her very big and very nosy extended family. Volunteering to help at a local golf tournament should do it, but since Olivia's mom equipped her phone with a tracking app, there'll be no hiding the fact that she's at the golf course instead of all the graduation parties happening at the same time. Unless, that is, she can convince the Fab Four--her ride-or-die cousins and best friends Sophie, Charlie, and Wes--to trade phones with her as they go through the motions of playing Olivia for the week.

Sure, certain members of the golf team are none too pleased with Olivia's sudden "passion" for the game. And sure, a very cute, very off-limits boy keeps popping up in Olivia's orbit. But she is focused! She has a schedule and a plan! Nothing can possibly go wrong . . . right?
Why I want to read this book

The companion to this book, 10 Blind Dates, was an out-of-this-world hit for me. One of the things I adored about the book was the main characters big, crazy, and lovable family. Here, I will get to revisit them, and you know I am looking forward to it. I am also excited to get to know Olivia better, while hoping we get a catch up time with Sophie and her boyfriend. I anticipate lots of fun!

Top Ten Uses for an Unworn Prom Dress

Tina Ferraro
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary
Publisher: Delacorte Books for Young Readers
Release Date: March 13, 2007
Goodreads
Sophomore year, Nicolette Antonovich was dumped two days before prom by the hottest guy at school. As a result, she became the proud owner of one unworn, perfectly magical pink vintage dress. But Nic is determined to put that night behind her for good. She's a junior now— older, wiser, and completely overwhelmed by a new set of problems: (1) The bank's ready to foreclose on her childhood home. (2) Her father's too busy with his "replacement" daughter to care. (3) Her best friend's brother is an eternal thorn in her side. (4) Her best friend isn't exactly the rose attached to that thorn. (5) Rumors are flying around school that could get her kicked off the volleyball team, which would (6) ruin all chances of a college scholarship. (7) She still likes the boy who dumped her in the first place. (8) And what in the world do you do with an unworn prom dress, anyway? Strangely, it's getting to the bottom of this last dilemma that just might hold the answer to all Nic's problems.
Why I want to read this book

This is a book my daughter absolutely adored back in the day. This was actually an early WLABB review, and if you read what Kiersten wrote, you will see all those buzz words that attract me to books.  The kid always steers me in the right direction with her recs too, because she does know me well. The synopsis screams "super cute" to me, and I love the idea of this young woman trying to make lemonade out of lemons.
