Top Ten Tuesday: Tis the Season

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

Tis the Season!

Now that we have celebrated Thanksgiving Day in the States, we can commence with the Christmas Season! I don't tend to read a ton of holiday books, so please excuse the overlap. I do however plan to read more. For now, I am sharing some wonderful and heartwarming YA books, which are set during the holiday season.

Do you have a favorite holiday themed book?

  1. I like the cover for Prince in disguise AND My New Crush Gave to me -- I'd wear that on a sweater!

    1. True story - that is an actual hand knit sweater on the cover. I think it was the author's publicist or someone like that, who hand knitted it for the cover. I was surprised, when I learned that. I just thought it was a graphic

    2. No way! Seriously? That is brilliant -- and I actually want that sweater now!

  2. There were several stories in My True Love Gave to Me that I really loved. A couple were total misses (the ones by Gayle Forman and Laini Taylor come to mind) but a few others were so, so good. Rainbow Rowell's was my favorite, plus the ones by Kiersten White and Stephanie Perkins.

    1. I am not one for short stories, but Rowell's was a standout in that anthology. I liked the Forman story, and loved the Perkins and White's stories. I read it a while back, but had an overall good impression of the collection.

  3. I feel like there aren't as many YA holiday books as there should be. 10 Blind Dates is definitely a favorite!

    1. I was surprised at how few I could find, and I was googling like a fiend to try and find more to add to my TBR. I think I read a lot more holiday romances in the adult category. There is not shortage of them there.

    1. As with most anthologies, I would love for them all to be winners, but they weren't. The collection was good overall, though

  6. This month I want to pick up a few Christmasy books. I have My True Love Gave to Me & What Light both on my tbr. And my favorites are Sugar and Spice by Shari L. Tapscott...think Food Network Cookie Bake-Off, it's super cute. Ohh and An Ex for Christmas by Lauren Layne I adore that one also.

    1. I have Sugar and Spice on my TBR. Sounds super cute. I read An Ex for Christmas a year or so ago, and I loved it! The heroine's affinity for Hallmark movies made us instant friends, and the book was really funny

  8. Probably not a surprise that I don't know any of these except for 10 Blind Dates which I'm actually looking forward to reading at some point! :)

    1. Some are older, because I really don't read a lot of holiday YA, but there also doesn't seem to be too much either.

  12. I am kind of shocked that I read three of these! I really do want to read 10 Blind Dates too, it looks adorable and I have heard great things. I loved Together at Midnight, and most of My True Love Gave to Me! And Holly Chase wasn't my fave, but nor was it bad, so there's a plus! Great list!

    1. Read 10 Blind Dates, when you need to feel warm and fuzzy and just need some brain candy. It's so fun and cute and the family is outrageous and fabulous. I put off reading Holly Chase, because of early reviews, but it was a solid read for me. I won't lie, I was a bit sad with what happened there at the end, but I understood Hand's objective

  13. I've not read any of these but I really want to read Kiss Me in New York and Prince in Disguise.

    1. Prince was super fun, as Strohm's books usually are, and I thought Kiss Me was cute and sweet.

  14. I don't read a lot of Christmas themed books either but I did read My True Love Gave to Me and enjoyed it quite a bit. It is so hard to believe that we are so close to Christmas already.

    1. There were a few standout stories, and a few that were just ok. I don't remember any being terrible, though. Anthologies are always that way for me.

  19. I rarely read seasonally but sometimes I do read holiday books -- just not when the holiday is happening :P I have read Together at Midnight though and it was quite a good read and super cute. I loved the focus on kindness.

    1. Most of the holiday books tend to come out before the holiday, but I do like the idea of reading them when I need a little boost, you know?
