Five Star Friday: November 2019

On the first Friday of each month, I will share my five-star reads from the previous month. Fingers crossed, I have lots of books to tell you about.

November was another great month! I read a total of 33 books and FOUR earned 5-stars!
10 Blind Dates
Ashley Elston

You guys are probably getting sick of me SCREAMING about this book, but it was just that good. If you need to be filled with happiness, joy, and the warm fuzzies, I suggest picking up this book. It's so fun, adorable, and packed with familial love and antics. It left me with a huge smile on my face and brimming with holiday spirit.

Our Wayward Fate
Gloria Chao

This was a story about identity, family, secrets, and forgiveness. Chase and Ali were characters I couldn't help but adore, however, I also found myself eager to get to the bottom of what Ali's mom was hiding. I really enjoyed the way Chao let this story unfold, and loved when all the pieces came together. Chao topped it off with a beautiful ending, which left me in a very happy place.

Lucky Caller
Emma Mills

I, legit, felt like I was floating on a rainbow cloud with my unicorn after finishing this book. That's how happy it made me. Great family focus, fantastic friendships, and an adorable romance were the stand out elements for me, but I also found the radio show and all the ensuing chaos delightful. An absolute winner for me!

First & Then
Emma Mills

I was so excited to finally read Mills' debut, though, it also means that I have no more of her wonderful storytelling until she writes a new book. Regardless, I was so captivated by Devon, her friends, and her family. This book had me grinning like a fool, though there were a few incidents of tears, but it was only because Mills made me care about these characters so much. I will say, I was reading to go twirling in a field of flowers at the end, because it made me so happy!

  2. You're really making me excited for Emma Mills! For the longest time, I wasn't very interested - I actually had her confused with another contemporary author I've tried and didn't like - but I recently purchased Foolish Hearts, and I'm excited for it + for all her other novels. Glad to see you mention two as favorites of November. I'm incredibly excited for 10 Blind Dates, it's on my Christmas tbr.

I also have been excited for Gloria Chao's book, but I feel like I haven't seen anything about it. Glad to know it ended up working good as well. Great post, Sam, and I really like this series. :)

    1. Lucky Caller just was everything I love about an Emma Mills book. I just loved every second of it. Chao's first book was so hyped, but I hardly saw anyone talking about her latest release. I got it from the library, and liked it so much, I had to review it.
