Sundays with Sam - The Sunday Post

Sundays with Sam is a combination of Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

My Week in Review

Happy Sunday! I hope all is well with you. Another week in the books with not much to say. I have been exhausted this week. Not sure why. Maybe the heat, maybe just being middle aged. I was so tired, I didn't even get through my TBR.

Work is still crazy busy and train service was awful all week. Thursday, we had another heavy downpour with the governor declaring a state of emergency. I was actually in the office, but when I saw the post, I asked my manager if I could go home and finish my work day from there. My friend drove me to the station about noon. It was nice because the train issues only seem to exist during rush hour. I beat the rain by about an hour, so it was all good. AND wonderful, cool weather followed the storm. It's been 60s in the morning and high 70s/low 80s during the day. Loving it!

Below is a view from the train. It's not my train line, but close to us.

Stacking the Shelves

It was a slow week, but I did grab two Read-Now books. One is a new to me author, the other is a series I have been enjoying from Sullivan. I am excited about both. I got one invite, but I am not a big mystery-thriller reader.

Read Last Week

My week started off with a bang and a five-star book. I devoured These Summer Storms. This was one of those sit back with your popcorn and enjoy the drama books. I loved it! I also enjoyed Ellie Palmer's new release. I love second chance/friends-to-more romances, and this one was a lot of fun with characters who shared a long history. I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed Zorrie. I was looking to check Indiana off, and Zorrie came with the bonus of checking "Z" off my Alphabet Challenge. This story begins back when and took me through several eras as I got to know Zorrie, her struggles, and her life. Really enjoyed it.

  1. OMG Sam that train looks more like a ferry than moving on railroad! That's insane!

    1. The flooding has been unreal. I saw clips of the subways in the city, and you would need a raft to get in and out.

    1. We have a three day in office mandate, but the rain was late enough, that the day counted for me.

    1. We have had some serious storms. The rainfall is good, since we did not have much snow, but it could come slower.

  4. I've been a bit off this week too. I'm going through the interview process for a pretty big promotion, and it's been so mentally draining!

  5. Those storms were wild! They ended up emergency closing Henry's school and unfortunately we ended up driving through the worst of it. But then it just disappeared like it never happened and the weather has been beautiful since!

    1. I am glad you got home ok. I made it back to my place less than an hour before it started. I work (I think) not far from you (Pennington). They said it wasn't bad down there. It did bring glorious weather.

  6. I've been having a harder time coming up with interesting things to say about my life in my Sunday Posts as well. I think I'm getting more and more boring as I get older! LOL! I'm like, um, does anybody want to hear about my grocery run or the fact that I'm still working on a draft of that next book? Because that's about as exciting as it gets. :-)

    1. Chores are never ending. I think I am too tired from work to do much on the weekends when I am finished with my chores. It is exciting that your are working on a book. It is quite an accomplishment.

  7. Yay for being able to leave early! That instagram post of your railway is insane! Nice that the rain brought some cooler temps. I have been exhausted too, but it's because my son, DIL and their two kids (one and two yrs) are here and it's been BUSY!! I'm so glad I don't have little kids anymore. I'm took old for this kind of constant demand for things and activity! I got the invite for The Vanishing Place too. I'll be downloading it since as you know I love mystery and thrillers.

    1. Your grandkids are young. Fun ages, but I can understand being tired out, but it's such a good tired.
