Can't Wait Wednesday!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

This week I can't wait for

The Talk of Coyote Canyon

She’s not here to make friends. She’s here to make trouble.

With her piercings, tattoos and spiky blond hair, Ellen Truesdale doesn’t quite fit in with the other folks in Coyote Canyon—and that’s just fine with her. She’s only here to put her father out of business, as payback for abandoning her when she was young.

Or is she more interested in finally proving that she was worth keeping?

Either way, she’s struggling to keep her rival well-drilling company afloat. And being a single woman in a male-dominated field has started to take a toll. So when Hendrix Durrant steps in to help, Ellen has no choice but to let him—even though he happens to be her father’s business partner and therefore her enemy. But the closer she works with him, the more she sees what she’s been missing…in life and love. And once she lets go of her anger long enough to learn the truth about her past, she might just find the family she’s always wanted.

Novak is a new-to-me author. I have only read one book by her, but I loved Talulah so much, I am eager to read more. This is the follow up to Talulah's book, and I am excited for it. Not only do I get to go back to Coyote Canyon, but I get to see Ellen get her HEA. I sort of felt bad for her in the last book. She was the casual romantic parter of the last book's hero, but she had really wanted more. How do I not ache a bit for her when she has to watch him find the love of his life. I like that Novak is bringing us into Ellen's work world too. She is one of few female drillers, and I am eager to learn a bit about that.

The Twelve Dogs of Christmas
 by Lizzie Shane
Published by Forever on September 29, 2020
Age/Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

A delightful holiday romance about a small-town single dad and an animal rescue owner as they try to find forever homes for a dozen lovable pups before Christmas.

Pine Hollow has everything Ally Gilmore could wish for in a holiday break: gently falling snow in a charming small town and time with her family. Then she learns some Grinch has pulled the funding for her family's rescue shelter, and now she has only four weeks to find new homes for a dozen dogs! But when she confronts her Scroogey councilman nemesis, Ally finds he's far more reasonable — and handsome — than she ever expected.

As the guardian of his dog-obsessed ten-year-old niece, Ben West doesn't have time to build a cuddly reputation. But he does feel guilty about the shelter closing. So he proposes a truce with Ally, agreeing to help her adopt out the pups. As the two spend more time together, the town's gossip is spreading faster than Santa's sleigh on Christmas Eve. And soon Ben is hoping he can convince Ally that Pine Hollow is her home for the holidays... and the whole year through.

I just read my first Lizzie Shane book this past weekend, and I really enjoyed my visit to Pine Hollow. I enjoyed so much that I rushed to check out the first book from the library. My adoration of holiday books is well known, and what could make it better than TWELVE dogs! I am looking forward to catching up with the past couples and revisiting Pin Hollow.

    1. I will have to check the library. My library didn't have it but Hoopla did. I hate reading on that app, but I will have to keep it under consideration.

  5. I felt bad for Ellen too. She was a good sport about it, though. I'm looking forward to picking Coyote Canyon up in a month or so.
