Can't Wait Wednesday!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

This week I can't wait for:
The Mistletoe Trap

Cindi Madsen
Series: Heart in the Game, #2
Age/Genre: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Publisher: Entangled: Amara
Release Date: November 16, 2020
Goodreads
From the moment Julie sees her best friend, Gavin, in the airport, it’s like no time at all has gone by instead of months and months. No matter how long they’ve been apart, their relationship has always been steady, comfortable, and decidedly just friends. Even though their meddling parents have hung what seems like unlimited amounts of mistletoe everywhere she goes this holiday season, Julie knows some things will never change.

Gavin is well-aware his family’s wanted him and Julie to get together since forever, even though he’s been friend-zoned since they could talk—and he’s been happy to play that role. After all, as the new starting quarterback for the San Antonio Mustangs, he’s got enough on his plate without adding romance to the mix.

But between playing elves in the holiday bazaar to nights spent one-on-one watching rom-coms or soaking in their town’s hot springs, suddenly the “reverse parent trap” they’ve fallen into is actually starting to work. But this could be one scheme where letting themselves get trapped might be way too dangerous.
Why I want to read this book

I have been on a holiday book kick lately and was excited when I stumbled upon this book. I always enjoy Madsen's books, and this book seems to have many ingredients I love. Aside from the fact that friends-to-lovers is one of my favorite trope, I am also a bit giddy thinking about how fun the "reverse parent trap" thing can be. I am looking forward to watching these two fall in love as I enjoy all the holiday fare as well.

Dax

Sawyer Bennett
Series: Arizona Vengeance, #4
Age/Genre: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Publisher: Loveswept
Release Date: July 9, 2019
Goodreads
The Arizona Vengeance is killing it on the ice. But one player can’t seem to keep his eye on the puck—all thanks to the woman he just married to save her life.

“Find your next hockey hero in Sawyer Bennett’s Arizona Vengeance series.”—New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis

My name is Dax Monahan and hockey is my passion. And if you want to succeed in this sport you have to bust your ass 24/7. I’ve never had a hard time focusing on my career, but when my past comes knocking, no amount of training can prepare me for what lies on the other side of the door.

Regan Miles was always like a sister to me. When a shared tragedy brings us face to face after several years, I’m shocked to see just how much she’s changed. Gone is the shy, awkward little girl that always used to chase me and her brother around. Instead, I’m faced with a gorgeous woman who makes it damn hard to concentrate on anything but her.

Turns out, she’s in trouble, and the only way out is to get married.

I surprise myself when I tell her to marry me. Order her, actually. And most shocking of all, she doesn’t even hesitate before saying yes.

So it’s settled. We’re getting hitched and she’s moving to Arizona with me. All platonic, of course.

The catch?
I never knew I’d fall so hard for my best friend’s little sister.
Why I want to read this book

This book isn't that old, but it's still been sitting on my shelf for over a year, and I am quickly falling behind on this series. When it comes to romance, hockey romances rank high on my list. I have no idea why, but I adore them. It's great too, because there are LOTS of hockey romances out there. Bennett is one of my go-tos for this genre, and I am never disappointed at the end of any of her books. This will surely be a solid read for me.

    1. Dax was great, as expected. I am trash for hockey romances. It was a pretty emotional story too with a focus on a rare blood illness. Added a lot of emotion with that.

    1. It was really moving. The heroine had this rare blood disease, which Bennett mentioned was modeled after one of her friends. Just knowing the real life connection had me invested
