Can't Wait Wednesday!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week I can't wait for:
Maybe This Time
Kasie West
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Publisher: Point
Release Date: July 9, 2019
Goodreads
One year. Nine events. Nine chances to . . . fall in love?

Weddings. Funerals. Barbecues. New Year's Eve parties. Name the occasion, and Sophie Evans will be there. Well, she has to be there. Sophie works for the local florist, so she can be found at every big event in her small hometown, arranging bouquets and managing family dramas.

Enter Andrew Hart. The son of the fancy new chef in town, Andrew is suddenly required to attend all the same events as Sophie. Entitled, arrogant, preppy Andrew. Sophie just wants to get her job done and finish up her sketches so she can apply to design school. But every time she turns around, there is Andrew, getting in her way and making her life more complicated. Until one day she wonders if maybe complicated isn't so bad after all . . .

Told over the course of one year and following Sophie from event to event, this delightful novel from master of romantic comedy Kasie West shows how love can blossom in unexpected places.
Why I want to read this book

There's only one reason I need to want to read this book - KASIE WEST!

I am a rock-solid fan of West's book, and will forever want to read each and every release. Aside from that, I am curious about this one, because something seems different. First of all, there is only one person on the cover. Normally, all West's covers feature a couple, because they tend to be romances, but the cover makes me think that this will be some romance with quite a personal journey for Sophie, the main character. I also adore books that take place over a longer time span. Sophie's story is spread out over a year, and a time span like that allows the reader to really get to know the character better and observe more changes in their life. Did I mention there are also lots of events? Sounds like a great combination of elements, which is sure to delight me.

The Undoing of Thistle Tate
Katelyn Detweiler
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary
Publisher: Margaret Ferguson Books
Release Date: July 23, 2019
Goodreads
Famous teen author Thistle Tate struggles to keep her biggest secret: the real identity of the author of her bestselling books.

Thistle Tate is a glittering wunderkind--only seventeen, and a bestselling author of the wildly successful Lemonade Skies series, with the highly anticipated final book due to publish next year. She has diehard fans across the globe, flashy tours, and steep advances. And now she's finally started to date her best friend and next-door-neighbor, Liam, the only one who knows her deep dark secret: she's not the real author of the Lemonade Skies books.

Thistle's guilt about lying intensifies after she meets the surprisingly charming Oliver, who introduces her to his super-fan little sister--but how can she have friendships based on deception? All she wants is for this last book to be written so she can be done with the ruse for good.

Then with just two weeks left to deliver the manuscript to her agent and editor, a dramatic turn of events puts everything in jeopardy, and Thistle must grapple with her own identity. Is she a victim, a fraudster, or both? On top of that, Liam is increasingly jealous of Thistle's budding friendship with Oliver--a friendship that leaves Thistle more than a little confused about her own heart.

As the book deadline looms closer, the stakes ever higher, a startling family truth comes to light, and it's only a matter of time before something gives--and Thistle's world becomes undone.

For fans of Rainbow Rowell and E. Lockhart, this YA is the perfect summer read for teen bookworms everywhere, with a love triangle, an insider's depiction of the publishing world, and nonstop, page-turning action.
Why I want to read this book

I am so interested in seeing how Detweiler lets this all play out. I am all over the concept, too. The deception and lies and the double life. We don't see a lot of that in the teen category. The last paragraph name dropped two authors, who have supplied me with multiple hits as well. All in all, sounds like something I can really get into.

    1. She has been a writing beast for the last few years, and publishing on both Harper and Scholastic has resulted in multiple books per year, which I am good with.

    1. I think I saw it in a review I read by accident (darn them!), but I feel like the meat of the story will be in how the situation is managed.
