Top Ten Tuesday: Recently Added
I sort of always share my stacking the shelves via my Sunday Post. I cannot really remember the last time I added a physical book. I think I won one last year, but I sent it to a blogger in Puerto Rico for her classroom. Therefore, I want to talk about books I've added to my TBR, since I sort of just do that (a LOT) on the DL.

Top Ten Tuesday: Recent Retellings
Hey, guess what? This is not the actual topic, but I have been reading a bunch of retellings lately, and many have been really, really good. I am going to tell you a little secret. I had not read the original version of many of these retellings, but I love being able to figure out which elements the author kept and which elements they added. So, I sort of cheat. As if I was in high school, I read the Cliff's Notes, and from there, I evaluate. The following is a list of some retellings I have recently read and enjoyed. Do you see any favorites on my list?

Top Ten Tuesday - Rainy Day Reads
Rainy Day Reads!
I am not a fan of weather, when I have somewhere to be, but I love to listen to the rain as I hide out inside. I have seen many different things people look for in a rainy day read. Some people are looking for a BIG book to pass the time, a mystery, or a book with a dark mood to match the weather. Me, I prefer to counteract the weather with a lighthearted book, that will bring some sunshine into my heart, while I wait for the storm to pass. These are some lighter reads, which left me with a smile on my face and a spring in my step.

Top Ten Tuesday: Welcome, Spring!
It's been one crazy winter, and I know that I am looking forward to most of the things that arrive with spring. I look forward to the longer and warmer days, and all the green popping up around us. I could do without the allergies, but sometimes you have to take the good with the bad. I am also looking forward to many, many spring 2019 book releases. I have a gazillion books I want to read this spring, so narrowing it down was tough, but I think I selected books, that will be 5-star reads for me.

Sundays with Sam - The Sunday Post
My Week in Review
The winter of 2018 just won't give up. Another week, another nor'easter. This time, we got about a foot of snow AND for the first time in 3 years, my company closed the campus. Yeah for snow days! The free food game was pretty good too - Chick-fil-A, cupcakes, and breakfast were supplied last week, and you know how free food always tastes better.

Discussion: My Love for Feel-Good Books
This Week’s Topic: My Love for Feel-Good Books
Everyone has a favorite kind of story. Some people love epic fantasies, historical romances, dark dystopians, or tear-jerkers. I like to read books like these every once in a while, but my favorite books are the makes-me-happy kind, better known as feel-good books.

Top Ten Tuesday: Recent Favorite YA Romances
Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...
Since it is almost Valentine's Day, we are focusing on romance, and if you have ever visited WLABB before, you know I love romance. My favorites are the terribly sweet romances, that leave me with a sappy smile and a bursting heart. There is romance in many of my favorite books, but I tried to select books that were focused on the romance.
This is technically a middle grades book, but what a sweet and precious little romance it is. I loved how these two had this flip of their emotions and they matured and began to really see each other. But you know what really got me? The grand gesture! I was pretty floored by a middle grades book have a grand gesture, but I'll take it, because I love that stuff.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Made Me Warm and Fuzzy
Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...
I am not shy about my love for books that give me a case of the warm-fuzzies. I am all about a book that makes me feel, and I really love one that leaves me contented and happy.
The romance was the source of warm-fuzzies for me here. It was so sweet and adorable and is the type of first love everyone should be so lucky to experience. I am actually getting happy tears in my eyes as I write this. Cute, adorable, heartwarming -- this one delivered many feels.

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten New-to-Me Authors
Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's topic is...
I read books from many new authors this year. Some were authors I had been wanting to check out, others were accidental finds. Here are some of the new-to-me authors I loved, who were not debut authors or already listed on my Best Books of 2017 which contained almost all new-to-me authors. I also want to add, that these are authors I want to read more from, because I loved their books so much.
I loved this book so much! From the lovely family focus to the story within the story, I adored it all. This one packed quite an emotional punch, and I have already bought both her backlist books, as I am determined to read all her work.

"Look to the stars. Aim. Ignite."
This is an adorable Cinderella retelling, that simply delighted me. I swear, I loved every second of it.Our heroine, Elle, is a total Starfield fangirl. She grew up immersed in the world, but she is not fully enjoying the latest reboot without her father by her side. In an effort to escape her miserable circumstances, she hatches a plan to attend the ExcelsiCon in order to win the cosplay contest and the trip to the LA premiere of the new Starfield movie.
Things I loved:
- Tons of geek culture! I loved the way Poston illustrated the fandom, and really enjoyed all the Starfield bits.
- Elle is an awesome heroine. She was constantly taking a lot of knocks, but she kept getting back up. She didn't have a huge support system, but she did have Sage.
- Speaking of Sage, she was fantastic! What a great analog to the fairy godmother (at least, that's how I saw her). She was an empowered young woman, who just worried about being herself. She was also snarky, hilarious, and a steadfast friend.
- I thought this was a fun retelling. I greatly enjoyed mapping the original to Poston's version. It was an amusing and entertaining translation, that brought me miles of smiles.
- Darian's and Elle's text message romance made my heart pitter patter. I don't know why I love this plot device so much, but I like it in every book I read. Maybe it's the honesty that the anonymity allows each character to express. Whatever the reason, I adored the back and forth between Darian and Elle.
My GoodReads status updates (though I am not sure about the dates there, hmm?)
This story sort of had everything I needed: a heroine I could love, a hero who could make me swoon and giggle, villains I could hate, supporting characters who were robust and contributed in huge ways to the story, and an adorable romance.
What is your favorite fandom and why?
