Top Ten Tuesday: Oh, Mother!

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

Oh, Mother!

So, this is not really the topic, and I actually think this week's topic is great. However, I am not one to keep track of books with great opening lines. Those of you who do such things are rock stars.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books Make Great Gifts!

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

Books Make Great Gifts!

When I was reflecting on this topic, I realized how lucky I am. First of all, I prefer electronic copies of books, so I don't get sad about not getting physical ARCs and whatnot (though, some of those boxes are amazing). Then, I am lucky enough to get a lot of new and newer releases via NetGalley, Edelweiss, and my public library system. Therefore, I struggle with the original topic, but I thought of listing some of the ARC requests I was rejected for, so maybe if someone is looking for a gift for me, they can keep these books in mind. Without further ado, here are some books I was rejected for, but still want to read.

Top Ten Tuesday: Recent Retellings

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

Recent Retellings!

Hey, guess what? This is not the actual topic, but I have been reading a bunch of retellings lately, and many have been really, really good. I am going to tell you a little secret. I had not read the original version of many of these retellings, but I love being able to figure out which elements the author kept and which elements they added. So, I sort of cheat. As if I was in high school, I read the Cliff's Notes, and from there, I evaluate. The following is a list of some retellings I have recently read and enjoyed. Do you see any favorites on my list?

Top Ten Tuesday: Not for Review

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

Not for Review!

This week I am talking about non-review books, or rather, books I read, and loved, but were not provided by a publisher. Rather, these are books I either bought or borrowed. I read every book on this list at some point this year and each earned between 4.5 - 5 stars from me. All were big winners for me.

Discussion: Making a Debut

This Week’s Topic: Making a Debut

Every year, we get a fresh, new crop of writers, who have achieved their dream of being published. And, every year, I take a chance on many of these new authors. I read their debuts, and I can say, it it's always a chance worth taking.

Top Ten Tuesday: Summer Lovin'

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

Summer Lovin'!

Summer is quickly approaching, and when I think of summer, I think of summer reads. My favorite summer reads are usually on the lighter side, set in the summertime, and usually feature some romance. Without further ado, here are some of my favorite summer reads.

Top Ten Tuesday: Road Trip!

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

Road Trip!

Fact: I don't get to travel as much as I would like to, therefore, road trip books are some of my favorites. Besides taking me to places I have been or would like to visit, they are usually filled with fun hijinks and mishaps. Below are some road trip books I have read and really enjoyed.

Sundays with Sam - The Sunday Post

Sundays with Sam is a combination of Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

My Week in Review

I have been so busy preparing for my daughter's move to Chicago, and am therefore really grateful for this three-day weekend. I have little plans, other than trying to do some last minute packing. We will be driving on Thursday and Friday, and then trying to take care of as many things as possible before I leave Chicago on Sunday. I am exhausted just thinking about it. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I have good weather and little traffic.

I am a little sad, that I will not be attending BookCon since it started. Yep, I even went the year it was in Chicago, but I hope everyone who is attending has a fabulous time.
