Discussion - Save the Bookstore!

This Week's Topic

Save the Bookstore!

Happy Friday! I recently read The Last Page, and one part of that story was saving the bookstore from closure. This had me thinking about other bookstore books I have read, and I was finding it hard to think of one where the bookstore WASN'T being saved (maybe the safe bookstores aren't as memorable?).

Don't get me wrong. It's always a good time reading about the community rallying to save something. It usually involved people from every generation banding together for the greater good. It gives me something to root for, and these books tend to be quite feel-good as well, but it makes me believe that all bookstores are doomed!

As far as this plot, there is normally quite a bit of drama, but it's more about the danger of the store closing than people being horrible. I can get behind that because if you know me, you understand I am not huge on drama. This is drama which always seems to result in something positive and most of the time, the store is saved.

Below are some "struggling" bookstore books I have read. Have you read any of these books?

I have two questions for you:
  1. Have you ever read a book set in a bookstore where the threat of closure wasn't hanging over their heads?
  2. Do you have a favorite bookstore book?

Now it's your turn!

Favorite save-the-store book?
