Top Ten Tuesday - For the Love of Austen

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

For the Love of Austen!

Happy Tuesday! I was not feeling the topic this week, but I was inspired by a recent 5-star read to honor some the inspiration that is Jane Austen. I have never read one of her books, but I have enjoyed a plethora of Austen inspired books and below are ten that I really loved.

  1. The Austen Affair by Madeline Bell
  2. Ordinary Girls by Blair Thornburgh
  3. Emma of 83rd Street by Audrey Bellezza, Emily Harding
  4. Elizabeth of East Hampton by Audrey Bellezza, Emily Harding
  5. Anne of Avenue A by Audrey Bellezza, Emily Harding
  1. Ayesha at Last by Uzma Jalaluddin
  2. Once Persuaded, Twice Shy by Melodie Edwards
  3. Jane & Edward by Melodie Edwards
  4. Hearts, Strings, and Other Breakable Things by Jacqueline Firkins
  5. First & Then by Emma Mills

  1. I loved Pride & Prejudice, and I really enjoy how Austen's books are so timeless that the themes and even the content can be made modern so effortlessly!

  2. I wonder why that particular book has gone to inspire so many retellings/modern stories? I guess because the women in it have more agency than the most of their contemporaries, and they get the men they want and their respect too, though in different ways and by different means? (I did read the book for one of my English classes at uni).
