My Week in Review
Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is doing well. We are battening down the hatches for a little nor'easter. They have already declared a state of emergency. I don't mind staying home, but I hope we don't lost power due to the high winds they are predicting.
I actually did something this weekend. My friend from work came up her and we went to Harold's. This is a deli restaurant where the food is HUGE! They have a few pictures on their website, but you cannot see the scale of the food. I got a potato pancake that was the size of a pizza. It's crazy! It's very close to my home, but I don't really go there. I have not been since my daughter was in grade school (early 2000s), but it was fun to spend the afternoon with my buddy.
I was finally put out of my misery at work on Thursday. My job is safe. They are cutting people from the role since we are shipping some of our responsibilities out to another team, but I will still be in my role. I was very relieved. Now we just have to figure out how to break up the work that is left. It should be an interesting evolution.

Stacking the Shelves
I felt a lot of book love this week. I got approved for two of my anticipated reads of 2026, and I got invite for a book I had previously requested but was in limbo. I quickly downloaded the new Segura book as I adored the previous two installments of this series, and I am considering Dog Person. It looks cute.

Read Last Week
I feel like I have no tolerance for things I don't like these days. I DNFed one or two books this week. Both were by authors I have previously enjoyed, so it was a disappointment, but there are just so many things I will turn a blind eye to.
Other than that, I had a great week. Loved the new Courtney Walsh. Very fun, very feel-good, and The Austen Affair was fantastic too. My favorite of the week was no surprise to me as this series is a favorite of mine. Absolutely LOVED Anne of Avenue A. It was simply perfect.

A potato pancake the size of a pizza sounds wild... but also very delicious! 🤤 Also, new Kate Clayborn!? I still have to catch up on her most recent releases but I love the cover of this new one. Actually, all the covers on your list are so vibrant and lovely! I hope the nor'easter passes through with little damage and that it goes quickly! Stay safe and have a great week ahead, Sam (also yay for your job being safe)! ✨
ReplyDeleteHarold's is known for it's enormous food. We got 2 sandwiches (one for my parents to go), the potato pancake, and french fries - $110 + $20 tip. We had a lot leftover, but I honestly would rather get less and pay less. They already suspended train service through tomorrow. I always get to work from home two days a week. Tomorrow will have to count as one though Monday is a day I like going in. It's a day many people elect to work from home. Traveling is a lot lighter than Tuesday - Thursday.
DeleteFirst I am glad that you will be keeping your position! Second that restaurant seems something! And third be safe Sam!
ReplyDeleteThe meeting on Thursday was such a relief. My and the other woman with whom I work closely were coming up with disaster scenarios. We exhaled and were happy.
DeleteI'm so glad your job is safe! I know that had to be stressful!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a big relief
DeleteGreat news about your job...you definitely deserved a treat after all that stress (those pancakes are the size of a bus!). I hope the weather doesn't hit too hard where you are. Bummer about those DNFs from authors that you expected to enjoy again.
ReplyDeleteWe did ok with the weather. I no flooding or power outages by me, so I was happy. I still have food from Harold's to eat.
DeleteI'm glad your job is safe! Also, that restaurant sounds kind of awesome. I want giant food. :)
ReplyDeleteYou have to see the cakes! They are sky high.
DeleteI'm glad the job is safe. Hopefully you don't get much of a storm out of that.
ReplyDeleteWe made out ok. It was windy, but the rain was slow, so no flooding and I am not close enough to water for the surges to affect me.
DeleteI'm happy to hear your job is safe, Sam! What a load off. Hope you stay safe and don't lose power with the storm! I'm happy to see you enjoyed The Austen Affair, too! I look forward to that new Courtney Walsh, as well. Yep, I DNF when a book isn't working for me. I just don't want to spend my time to be annoyed.
ReplyDeleteAh, that's great news about your job! So glad the storm wasn't as bad in our parts.
