Challenge Accepted - 2026

Happy 2026! It's that time of year where we start anew and select our reading challenges. I have a mix of old and new this year. In the past, I have held fast to monthly prompts, steering clear of those year-long, multi prompt challenges. I found those type of reading challenges tended to have too many prompts where I would be forced to read something I really didn't want to read. That's not fun to me, but this year, I came across a few that were doable. I would have to stretch a little, but not totally compromise my reading ways.

Goodreads Challenge

I am continuing to set this challenge to 250 books. I know can do that comfortably, but I always hope to read more.

Literary Escapes

I have done this challenge forever. I will combine this with Read Around the USA which has a few extra prompts. I feel good having already checked off a few tough states.

Alphabet Soup

My attack on this challenge worked well last year. Many letters happen on their own, but I try to get those tough letters out of the way early.

Monthly Motif

Another challenge I have been doing for years along with their Keyword Challenge below.

Keyword Reading Challenge

Believe it or not, this is one of the toughest challenges for me. Those words seem so common until you are looking for them in a book title.

Easy Reading Challenge

This is one of the prompt challenges I found on The StoryGraph. There are prompts for each month, and some were really interesting to me.

2026 TBR Tackle

Another new challenge for me. There are 52 prompts for me to work on at my leisure. These were interesting without being tedious.

Now it's your turn!

Are you joining any challenges?

  1. Good luck on your challenges. I'm only doing the Goodreads challenge.

  2. Every time I see people's posts about challenges, I always think "I could do that too!" but every year I learn that I cannot, haha. That said, the Easy Reading Challenge and the TBR Tackle prompts look/sound fun so maybe I'll give them a loose try. The TBR tackle sounds a little like the Beat the Backlist challenge, which I'll be attempting, so maybe that'll be fun... Good luck with your challenges, Sam! I know you'll slay them :)

    1. I loosely do all challenges. The only one I officially sign up for is GR. I like Beat the Backlist but some of the prompts give me pause. I want it to be fun without making me work too hard.

  3. So many challenges! I kept it simple this year and decided to just participate in the Goodreads Reading Challenge, Kimberly's Audiobook Challenge, and then the Discussion Post Challenge (Shannon and Nicole, but Nicole is leaving blogging). My personal goals are trying to improve my NetGalley ratio and get through more of my physical books.
