This Week's Topic
Anticipated Releases
Happy Friday! I was inspired by last week's Let's Talk Bookish topic and decided to give my own two cents regarding my anticipated releases for 2025 via this recap.
Like most of you, I comb Goodreads, Edelweiss, and Netgalley to see what new books will be coming out. My desire to read all the books is strong, but I do my best to pinpoint my MOST anticipated releases for those post each year. After reading Dini's post, I was curious about my own success with my anticipated releases. Let's take a look!
As part of Top Ten Tuesday, we always have an anticipated releases post in January and June to cover the full year. At this point, most of the books have been released.
- I have read 12 of the 20 books
- I DNFed one of the books
- Two of the books have yet to be released and I do not have ARCs
- I have library holds for two of the books
- My library has four of the books, but I have yet to read them
- I have no access to one of the books
Overall, I did read many of the books from my list, and I enjoyed them. I also am still interesting in reading all the other books. ARCs slow down at the end of the year, so I hope to tackle them soon. I will cross my fingers that the library gets the two December releases, and maybe I will cave and purchase the final book. It could happen.

Oh, you reminded me that I wanted to start keeping track of my "most anticipated books" statistics as well...but I don't know if I'll have the time. I know I ultimately erased a few books from my four (seasonal) lists because one review or another made me realise they weren't for me. What I know for sure (since I'm keeping track of those) is that I've only had one DNF this year! Speaking of which, I took a look at the book you DNFed, and if certain reviews are anything to go by, I hear you so much.
ReplyDeleteWho knows what will remain on my list by the time I get to some of these books. As more reviews accumulate, they can sway me in one direction or the other. I was sad about the DNF because I have enjoyed the author's other books, but it was trying too hard or something. I just could not get into it.
DeleteI hope you get a chance to read them all.
ReplyDeleteI have to put in some effort this or next year.
DeleteGreat post, Sam! You've definitely done a lot better than me with anticipated releases. I think the problem with me is that I'm so heavily a mood reader and whether I get to a book depends greatly on that—most anticipated or not! 🤭Interesting to see that you DNF 'People Watching'! I'm surprised to see so many mixed reviews about that book considering how popular that author is... Glad to see that, for the most part, your anticipated releases have all been enjoyable :)
ReplyDeleteI sometimes feels a generational divide when I read books. I am a stereotypical GenX, and there are things Millennials and GenZ authors like to harp on that just aren't for me. I have no problem acknowledging that I am not the target, and I have pet peeves that I can let slide a bit. However, I read for entertainment and would rather spend the time on things that bring me joy.
DeleteI've done pretty good so far with my preorders (probably my most anticipated reads!). I still have a couple more to get to this year.
ReplyDeleteYou can do it!
