I never shy away from a book featuring elite athletes. I am always so intrigued by them, what drives them and what makes them tick. As if being on the world stage is not enough pressure, teens at this level also have to deal with the ins and outs of being a teen. I am really looking forward to Audrey's story, hearing about how she came back from what could have been a career ending surgery, hearing about her teammate's trouble, and getting to watch her navigate a romance.

I have read three other books by Hammerle (with Knocked-Up Cinderella being my favorite), and that made it easy for me to one-click this book, when I came across it. I love creative people and getting to watch them make their magic. Therefore, the whole music camp thing caught my interest. I am also curious about the someone, who is out to eliminate the competition. The Sound of Us seems to contain great elements, which I hope are combined in a winning way.

I know how much you like camp stories as well, so I think the music camp one is going to be right up you alley! I love the cover for Break the Fall and now I am just awaiting to see what you will think in your review :)

ReplyDeleteSame. I think that's why I enjoy camp books so much. I started the book this morning, and it's interesting the way the author seems to be working in a toxic former-friendship and the damage it's done to the MC

DeleteThe Sound of Us sounds like a book I'd really enjoy as well Sam! I love books with narratives that surround music, as long as its not too technical then I tend to get a little lost in the jargon. Will definitely be checking these out, great picks this week!
ReplyDeleteI started Sound of Us this morning, and it's an opera training program, which is something different for me. I sort of like, when the author's get a little technical. Usually they give me enough to understand or at least get the gist of it, but other times, they inspire me to google more

DeleteI think that these both sound really good. I have spent a lot more time with music teen than those that play sports but I love books that feature young adults that are passionate about whatever their thing is. I can't wait to hear what you think of these!
