Most Anticipated Debut Novels for 2015!

Kiersten's Picks

My Heart and Other Black Holes
Jasmine Warga
February 10, 2015
HarperCollins/Balzer + Bray
Goodreads | Amazon | Book Depository

From reading the blurb, it sounds like this book has a similar feeling to Falling Into Place (review here), which I really loved! I can't wait to see how the physics nerd part comes into play as well as the "suicide pact". Overall, this debut looks like it'll be an emotional ride, and I can't wait!

Pretending to be Erica
Michelle Painchaud
July 21, 2015
Viking Children's

Pretending to be Erica is about a girl torn between her duty to her conman father and the love she's experiencing in the home she's infiltrated. This sounds like it's going to be awesome, mixing the psychology of a girl pretending to be someone else with the mystery of what she'll do next.

Love Fortunes and Other Disasters
Kimberly Karalius
May 12, 2015
Swoon Reads
Goodreads | Amazon | Book Depository

The cover for this is so cute! I also really liked the Swoon Reads book I read a few months ago, A Little Something Different (review here), so I'm hoping this one will be just as charming!

Noor's Picks

More Happy Than Not
Adam Silvera
June 16th, 2015
Soho Teen
Goodreads | Amazon | Book Depository

So this is a book that takes place in Bronx in the near-future, about a gay teenager who thinks going through a "memory-relief procedure" for his sexuality might be the best thing to make his life a little less full of struggle. The synopsis of this book sounds like it'll be so poignant and important and all the reviews on Goodreads are positive so I'm really excited for it to come out!

Proof of Forever
Lexa Hillyer
June 2nd, 2015
HarperCollins
Goodreads | Amazon | Book Depository

This novel is one of those cheesy teen reads but I'm really into those so I'm looking forward to it. It's about these girls who get transported back in time to summer camp a few years ago and have to recreate the memories to get back to the present but it involves dark and twisty secrets and sounds really promising and also has a really nice cover (I very much judge books by covers) so I'll definitely be reading this!

Playlist for the Dead
Michelle Falkoff
January 27th, 2015
HarperTeen
Goodreads | Amazon | Book Depository

This book sounds like a cross between Thirteen Reasons Why and Since You've Been Gone and I'm kndof really digging it. A best friend commits suicide and leaves behind a playlist and a note for our protagonist. The description sounds like it'll be something I'll really like and if it's written well, probably something I'll get really emotionally invested in, and it comes out so soon so if I actually read it when it comes out (considering my TBR pile doesn't ever get read in the order it gets created) you might get a review of this soon!

Marlon's Picks

Red Queen
Victoria Aveyard
February 10, 2015
Orion
Goodreads | Amazon | Book Depository

From the blurb and all the talk circuiting around Goodreads and other media sites, I'm really excited about this novel! The premise seems along the narrative lines of Young Elites and Heir of Fire, so count me in. I need my fantasy fix for the year now that Heroes of Olympus and The Mortal Instruments are finished, so I can't wait (but I must).

Becoming Jinn
Lori Goldstein
April 21, 2015
Feiwel & Friends
Goodreads | Amazon | Book Depository

Are you tired of Western mythology being predominant in our literature? That's where Lori Goldstein comes in with tales of Jinn. Not your regular lamp-rubbing, wish granting, Robin-Williamsed genie, either, but a character struggling through the servitude and danger of magic and the world that comes with it. Sign me up, I've been waiting for this novel for years!

Made You Up
Francesca Zappia
May 19, 2015
Greenwillow Books
Goodreads | Amazon | Book Depository

You know we at WLABB are infatuated with books about psychology. Schizophrenia is the villain in this novel, and Alex, a high school senior, has battled for a long time but will now face the "normal' teenage rites of passage: parties, relationships, etc. But what's real? These kinds of novels are a wicked kind of read for me, I absolutely love good portrayals of mental health concerns in narrative form. I just hope may comes along quicker!

Amrutha's Picks

Fifteen
Jen Estes
Dreamwalker Diaries, #1
Release Date: January 15th, 2015
Publisher: Curiosity Quills Press
Goodreads

This book is about a young girl who foresees her future-self's execution: this is a plot with starts with a twist I've never seen before, so I'm very excited for this novel to come out! (Only 10 days until I can get it!)

Because You'll Never Meet Me
Leah Thomas
Release Date: 2015
Publisher: Bloomsbury UK
Goodreads | Amazon | Book Depository

There's a boy who's allergic to electricity and a girl with an electric pacemaker. Sounds like an epic romance to me already! This book has a 5.0 rating on goodreads right now (albeit with very few reviews) but this really entices me to grab the book as soon as I can.

One of the Guys
Lisa Aldin
Release Date: February 10th, 2015
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
Goodreads | Amazon

This book is about, what is assumed to be, a girl who is just "one of the guys" -- it seems a little cheesy, but those books are my favorite! Hopefully this book is as funny as it seems.
